Really disappointed by this news. Firstly for the health problems of Brian but also was looking so forward to seeing him live since Paul Rodgers in Sheffield.

I was upset to hear of the cancellations. Immediately I started to panic that my hero was in serious trouble. With heroes like David Bowie and Lemmy passing away in the last year or so it wouldn't surprise me, frankly. It's been a sh*t year. :(

Hope whatever he's struggling with he prevails!

Didn't he hurt his hip or low back during or right before the QAL tour? That could be it, too. And nothing is worse for a musician than to be down, physically, because of an ailment. Damn, I hope he will be ok because without him, well, there is no more.
Yeah, I'm lost in the night
The icy wind is howling out your name
The moon has gone behind the cloud again
And I can't stand to live another day
'Cause my bluebird went away

Maybe he is overworked?

He is not only touring the World with Queen, but also:

- Writing books: Bang- The complete history of the universe, Cosmic Tourist, 3 books about stereoscopy (including stereocards), forthcoming Queen stereocards, a book about the Red Special ++

Involved with:

- London Stereoscopic Company
- Designing and advertising stereoscopic viewers.
- Brian May Guitars and products
- Founder of Starmus Festival (tribute to Stephen Hawking) and doing speeches
- Animal welfare, politics ++
- NASA and Mars project
- Astronomy in general
- We Will Rock You musical
- Kerry Ellis touring
- 46664 Mandela tribute
- Founder of Asteroid Day (including TV programs for Discovery,)

In addition :

- Having a word and opinion on new Queen products, compilations, video ads etc.
- Writing new songs with Kerry Ellis, new albums
- Preparing and doing interviews on both radio, websites, magazines, TV in between every project.
- Reading letters from fans and replying them carefully
- Updating his website, Twitter and everything else concerning social media.

And in between all this he has also got a family to care for. Then there is all the things he does including the mentioned projects and other things that I have probably forgotten to mention...

To me it seems almost impossible to manage to do all those things.. Touring with Queen is a full time job in itself. Even a 20 or 30 years old would struggle to keep up with this. Not only doing tours but also doing big things like performing at the London Olympics ceremony, Rock In Rio etc.

He sure could have relaxed and lived happily without any need to do all this, but he is maybe not willing to sit back and just relax like most of us probably would. So I want to say that he deserves to just take care of himself for a while.

The man behind WWRY (fast version) which now has got 1,1 million views. Long live Queen and Brian May!

I have had the worry for some time that his much earlier bout with hepatitis (early 70's)may cause him problems down the road. If the illness caused some injury to his liver, on again off again inflamation might become chronic.
Maybe his adrenal function has been stressed. That would explain both fatigue and depression.

Rest would help considerably, in any case.

Get well soon, Dr. May!

I have been thinking for some time that he is actually losing the plot! His obsession with the 3D stuff, his constant promotion of that tacky little OWL thing he sells, the constant posting of two photos instead of one, it sort of makes me think that he's become overly obsessed with it and to be honest, all sorts of things. I don't know if he's depressed, but reading his website, certainly makes me feel that way!

Does our obsession about Queen and our constant posting on here means we're going insane ? ;)

I prefer to use the term 'slightly mad'. And yes to answer your question, for at least for me.

A bit crazy yes. But it is not so bad as long as we admit it ourselves. ;)

It is OK to be a little geek. To be obsessed with anything is a bit crazy... Be it stamps, star wars, birds or whatever..

For me music is the most important thing in my life after surviving... What is your excuse? :)

I just found this old interview Brian did with Circus Magazine. Here's the relevant part:

"This is a quote from Brian during a 1976 interview with Circus Magazine: "Circus: Do you see emotional reasons, besides physical reasons, why you had hepatitis?
Brian: I think that has something to do with it. I was pretty run down - I really hadn't learned the technique of touring - and I think I was fighting against it rather than going along with it. I was feeling pretty desperate, yeah. I was feeling New York was pretty oppressive the first time around. I was sort of scared to go out of the hotel room.
Circus: Some people break their leg just so they can cool out - and not know until later that that was the reason.
Brian: There can be something in that. I've often wondered about that. I know in some ways it was a relief to get hep, even though I felt so bad physically. It really is a killer. You felt like you wanted to die."
