Postby KNIGHT » Mon Sep 17, 2018 6:27 pm

According to Greg Brooks, it will be released next year (2019) a product about Freddie Mercury.

Or at least they will be working on some kind of project about Freddie Mercury.

We will see what happens!!!!

wonder what it might be....seeing as how the film will raise interest in both FM & Queen I'm sure they'll try and market some solo product.

* a re-re-re release of the solo albums?
* a FM tribute album? covers of FM solo tracks?
* further things from the vault? I'm sure things have appeared since the release of the solo collection in 2000

I never even thought of a Freddie tribute album of his solo songs being covered by other artists.

Most likely a remastered Mr. Bad Guy. A distant second would see a wholly different production of that album but remixed/redone to give a more modern sounding feel.
Selling off some of my Queen collection which you can find at http://evilbaby.tripod.com/Queen_Collection_Sale.html please PM me if you are interested in anything.

Hm, can't think of many Freddie-only related stuff they still could release..."Mr. Bad Guy" re-release, since it's not to be found in shops anymore would be a good thing. Aside from that...Blu-ray release of "Lover Of Life, Singer Of Songs" if the source material makes this possible...that's all I can think of ( that I'd buy).^^

Weren't there rumours of a Mr. Bad Guy reissue a little while back? A two-disc edition that included all the B-sides and single mixes and the like? I can see the logic in that, but it's not really of any interest to anyone who owns the Solo set.

Whatever it is, I hope it's a nice surprise.

it needs to be a Mr Bad Guy reedition. We had the Barcelona 'new edition' on 2012, and another compilation on 2015, so it needs to be that. Anyway, could be interesting if they include more demos from the original sessions, that it needs to exists. But probably will be like the Barcelona 2012 edition: 1 CD with a probably new version of the album (without synths?), another one with a few demos and b-sides and singles from the era (maybe all came from the Solo Collection), another CD with the original album, and a DVD with a little documentary of the new version, all the videos, and maybe some interviews from freddie of that period?

A couple of months ago, they ask of the official facebook freddie page if it could be interesting to have a reissue of the album, and now with the movie where they will talk about this album, it seems the perfect moment for it.

I think LOLSOS on vinyl would do me.

The idea of a remixed Mr Bad Guy just makes me think of the Freddie Mercury Album released back in 1992. The idea didn't impress me then, and I must admit, it's not doing a particularly great deal now for me, either.

I think we're a few years overdue for a blu-ray release of the Greatest Flix videos, if we're being honest.

I recently went through the two video DVDs we got, and was left seriously wishing they'd finish them off. In this day and age, that surely means a complete Blu-ray collection.

Are there any other huge bands who have released all their music videos on Blu-ray yet? I would like that too, but so far I've seen nobody doing it in general. Even Michael Jackson's music videos didn't get a Blu-ray release so far, last year they restored Thriller for special Halloween screenings, but didn't release it on Blu-ray yet either...maybe the restoration of all those music videos might also be quite expensive for them to do? Also for Queen videos...could be an extensive process restoring all those, still I'd want them to do it.

As for Freddie...only thing that should be done right now imo is a rerelease of Mr. Bad Guy, since you can't get it in shops. I don't need a remix either...it should stay the way it is, I like it. Just make it available.

Presumably the 'big Freddie 2019 release' isn't just the 'Bohemian Rhapsody' film on dvd and BluRay?

No, I find it hard to believe they'd hype that up as some mystery product when we all know it's coming.

To say they are 'hyping up' a Freddie release is a slight exaggeration.

But I dunno. Just not sure how many more times can they repackage Freddie's solo work? The film is hardly an advert for it either.

I think the Beatles did a few years ago.
