Let's reminisce again...

Postby fairydandy » Wed Feb 13, 2013 12:00 am

The places, the sounds, the events, the things that remind you of your younger days....

I can't tell you what this cute little moped means to me. The memories of the lads at school who rode these wonderful machines will be with me until the day I die! I wanted one so much it hurt...and I never had one..although I did make it to a Puch Maxi!

Aha...my first live rock band! I thought they were singing about a 'bread van' for years after seeing them... :P

A great and hugely underrated band, Budgie.

I bloody loved mine when I was younger- back then, we had to make our own compilation tapes. No filing MP3's and creating playlists back then- the playlist you had was stuck on the cassette tape, and you were lumbered with it for the day! :P

Aaah...1975 and the album and the single that changed my world forever. A Queen fan since SSOR and even more of a fan by the time that Killer Queen hit (and I remember my English teacher asking us to explain the lyrics to him)...but Bo Rhap, that was the one that changed the world forever...

I distinctly remember Tom Browne saying 'at number one for the ninth consecutive week, it's Queen with Bohemian Rhapsody'...and I recorded the Top 40 (or was it 60 in those days?) on a reel-to-reel tape recorder.

..and shortly afterwards on something like this...

I had one of those! Remember on the 12 albums thread, I mentioned making my own radio plays as a youngster with film soundtracks? That was the cassette tape recorder i did them on! Later, when I got a stack hi-fi, I still used it to do multi-tracking with the tape deck!

Here's the stack hi-fi.

We use midi-units nowadays, but the sound quality of this monster pissed all over them. Mine didn't have the CD deck though, those were 'future technology' back then. :P
