Also.........not quite as missed as Tiger Stadium, but I have plenty of memories of the Pontiac Silverdome as well!

Image

Lions, Pistons, Stones, Metallica.........good times! :D

(they said WrestleMania III had 93,000 people in attendance there, but that's total BS.....I think it still has the record for an NBA game, though!.....and holy crap, could that place get LOUD)

I saw the Silverdome back in June 2008 when we were in Rochester Hills for our In Vitro. It looked so sad sitting there empty. :(

I can remember we got our first colour TV in time for 1972 Olympic games.

My kids used to look at me as if I was from another planet when I would say how we used to have to get up from the sofa and walk across the room to change channels on the telly, no remote controls for us. Mind you there were only three channels so you didn't have to get up that often!

going back to FD's very first post about the Yamaha fs1-e.....

Fizzies were brilliant little bikes, if you (or your Dad) knew what you were doing you could wring over 50mph out of one. A really good condition one nowadays can go for over £5000!

My mate actually got a speeding ticket on a Puch Maxi once, he got caught at the bottom of a long steep hill hunched over the handlebars to make him as streamlined as possible. He had a copy of the ticket framed on his wall for years afterwards.

The Stars on 45 medley!

https://youtu.be/MziAoHlFrPM

Heaven knows what made me want to play that again, but such memories from the early 80's!

Note to the youngsters here... a '45' was a single vinyl release. It referred to the rpm that they used to play at, as opposed to an album or LP at 33rpm. We used to strap a piece of flint to an old piece of wood and drag it across the vinyl to make a weird scratching noise. Some people thought it sounded better than cd's. They really didn't, they were grotesque.

Fantastic little bikes. I struggle to understand or explain the nostalgia I feel when looking at one! It's about memories of friends, of schoolmates, about my own struggles at such an age...and I long to go back there, probably to do it much better. :? Truth is, I would do it all the same again, 'cos we are what we are.

Inny, the Checkerdome aka The Arena.

The link shows it from the outside, inside and several ticket stubs, one of which I was thrilled to see. Queen, the Sept. 17, 1980 stub which was the last time I saw them, and the night my daughter was conceived.

I was only there, once, and that was to see Santana in the early 70s, I believe. That's also the home of the St. Louis Blues, NHL Hockey Team. Or was.

When Queen played there, I was living in Houston, TX.

Yah. I'm not much of a hockey fan, even though my first residence was Michigan. So I never went to any of the Blues games. Just concerts and a couple of conventions of a different sort. I have more memories of it than I do Kiel Opera House or the Auditorium. I remember wanting to go buy one of the seats that were put up for sale before they imploded it, which made me very sad. If I ever get back to the zoo it's going to be weird looking over and not seeing that old building. It was built in 1929 as a place to show dairy cattle!

That was one of the locations that always spurred the science fiction part of me into imagining that life activity, especially the kind that generated a lot of energy, never ceases to exist on some other, invisible to us plane.

Life events keep playing over and over, at the very spot they originally took place, and especially when someone thinks back on them. In that realm infinity naturally exists, in order to accommodate so many layers of energy.

Cool idea, no? I mean, as if someone could invent a special kind of eyewear, so that you could go to certain spots and tune in not only to your own memory come alive. But not others', because seeing other peoples' memories might be frightening. I guess that would be much like having a time machine.

I've quite the collection of incense. Some of the scents bring back happy memories. I never thought I would smell something like my grandfather's aftershave/colonge ever again, but Musk(Hem) incense does it! :D
