With the fires, the ones in Oregon or Washington, forget already, we set off when 2 kids started setting off fireworks, destroying millions of acres of farmland, national forests and homesteads, including homes, livestock, wildlife and everything in between. Did you see the photo I posted of the mountain lion who burned to death in a tree, trying to escape the fire? HORRORS!

Unless you open those links and look at the videos and photos, you won't see just how horrible this is. I've seen fire on the livestreams and the smoke is so thick, you can't even see past 1000 feet from the cameras.

I can't take looking at pics of injured animals or people, sorry about that, so I didn't see that pic of the lion. I don't turn into live streams as well.
But I didn't know that fireworks were at the root of it. That coupled with high temps and very little rain...there needs to be common sense. I know locally there is a fire ban, and yet some still don't take heed of it. :nervous:

Fireworks was the cause of one of many fires. There are no livestreams in the links I posted, above. Nor is there a photo of the burned cougar.

Inny, are you keeping updated on Hurricane Irma? My God, I'm scared for my online friends who will be likely be in the path of it.

Yesterday at this time the Eagle Creek fire in Oregon was at 5,000 acres, it is now at 35,000 acres. That's 30,000 acres burned to the ground in 24 hours.

:-(

Looks like the end of the world over there,

The island of Barbuda is said to be "barely habitable". Officials warn that St Martin is almost destroyed, and the death toll is likely to rise.

Tragic. I don't remember a summer with so much destruction. For weeks I've been following the fires in British Columbia...heartbreaking to read about it.

I'm sure I've seen it. Don't need to, though. The end is near.

Still, Donald says that the changing weather patterns has fuck all to do with climate change/global warming, so I guess that makes it alright.

I guess it's a bit curious how these weather systems are queueing up like London buses, to all take the same route across the Caribbean and then run up around Florida. I was out on holiday in Antigua about eight years ago, and we had three major hurricanes come through the area in about ten days. Nothing like as major as these ones, but then I'm not sure they've ever had three like these latest ones, in such quick succession before.

Hope everyone we know from here, who live in Florida are OK. That number of people all being told to evacuate at once, can only be the start of some very frightening times.
What is left of your dream?
Just the words on your stone.

But forgot how to learn.
