'Unusually large' asteroid the size of a city block to buzz past Earth

An asteroid the size of a city block discovered by astronomers in Canberra will zoom past Earth

The massive object was discovered just days ago by Scottish-Australian astronomer Rob McNaught and colleagues at the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics of the Australian National University.

So essentially, as it's 14 times further away from the Earth than our Moon, then our own moon has more chance of crashing into us. Why don't they write an article on that?
