No, fairydandy, he's not. He's out there saying that he does not represent how all gays act. He says there isn't just one way to be gay. He says what he wants to represent is it's okay to be whoever you are, embrace it, love it. You are the one reinforcing the stereotypes by saying a behavior is too gay.

At least you admit it's an act. It's just a fake little act that reinforces a stupid stereotype, and it doesn't help me at all. It's an embarrassment, but they have every right to "act" that way.

Rupaul is too gay. He still looks good in drag. ;)

Maybe if you spent more energy reinforcing the fact that there isn't just one way to be gay, you would help destroy the stereotype better and it would help people love all types of people by not bashing certain types.

We've been saying that from the very start of this stupid argument.

He has every right to act and look the way he does, but I'm not attracted to him. He's not my type! He's too gay IMO. ;)

I'm not a fan of his out of drag look. He's a better looking woman.

The words "too gay" is gaybashing, whether that is one's intent or not.

It doesn't bother me. I'm sure I'm too gay for some men.

I would only agree depending on who said it and in what context. As I've said before I don't think a gay person can say that and be gay bashing. When someone is a member of a group, it's different because they don't mean harm towards the whole group. In that case I think it is said in only the spirit of being critical, but not damaging. However if a straight person says something or someone is "too gay" then that is open for debate on whether or not that is gay bashing. Lizg is taking a zero tolerance type approach to what is socially acceptable and what isn't. I don't think that hardly ever works though. That's how I see it anyhow.

It doesn't matter who says it, it's still nonsense.

JLP wrote:I get the impression this discussion is not about the gay community at all but about an individual. In the other Lambert thread we pulled, the focus was on how his career was being affected due to his sexuality. I really doubt this discussion would have happened if fd had saidJulian Clary or Graham Norton acted too gay.

JLP, the same happened in the 2 deleted threads. Milkman and I got it in the neck, because he and I were talking with each other. It was shocking to see how some of Adam's fans views did a turnaround in a short time then. Sadly it's happening to fd now. It shouldn't be happening. Hell, there are a few times looking at things in Elton John's career that IMO were too gay, the time he dressed as Donald Duck being one. It was fun to watch, and fun to do IIRC.
Elton by the way has done much, much more than Adam could even think about.

Do you even realise what gaybashing is? I have to ask. I lived through it, this doesn't even come close to it!
