Pope Benedict XVI to resign Feb. 28

This is the place for topical debate and discussion about anything in the world (non-Queen related).

Think that was his point.

I guess they've got John to thank for that one.

You can't say it just happened. You can say it happened without a deity.
There are more than one answer to this question, though.
To have good, there has to be a balance and that balance is evil.

One explanation is found in John 16:33,
“You will have suffering in this world.”
He didn't say you might – he said it IS going to happen. He never told us nothing bad would happen and he never said everyone would live a perfect and happy life. In the end, those who believe in him will reap the reward of heaven when the time comes.

What do you think will happen to those who don't believe?

Or how I'll be saved
I'm no coward
But I'm not that brave
Rags are blowing
Rain's getting near
I'm done with running
And it's getting dark in here~

Funnily enough that's also the atheist answer.

You've quoted John and Matthew now. John said that the Temple incident happened at the start of Jesus' ministry, whereas Matthew said it happened just before he was crucified, some 3 years later. Who should I believe?

Yes it is. 'Dying he destroyed our death, rising he restored our life'. Believers get immortality, non-believers get eternal death, which in all fairness is exactly what they expect to get.

(Pretty sure eternal death isn't the Vatican approved phrase either.)
