There was a long brown cat in the bushes?
Was it warm?

The combination of Brown Cat and Rocking chair, sort of led to Citrillus Lanatus. Poor Shrodinger. :P

In a nutshell:

I was talking about genetics, and how genotype and phenotype are different. Genotype is your genetic makeup; phenotype is how your genotype is expressed due to environmental factors and the likes. A great example is Siamese cats, who are white in hot places, black in cold places, and are white with black extremities everywhere in between, because of an enzyme that is activated at certain temperatures.

Argument was thus:

1: That cat is not black. It's brown.
2: That's not really my point.
1: It's brown, not black.
2: It doesn't really matter.
1: Look, I've had 8 million cats, I think I know what colour it is.
2: I don't really care, my point is about the genetics, not the colour.
1: Look, just because you're a trainee plumber and you have pens in your pockets doesn't mean you have the life experience required to know what colour a cat is.
2: All I was saying was that depending on temperature, the colour changes. In hot temperatures it's white, in cold temperatures it's brown/black.
1: That cat is not cold. It's warm.
2: <finds gun, inserts gun in mouth, pulls trigger>

Basically, because of a certain argument, the term "brown cat", became a euphemism for a nonsense argument which completely misses the point. Like arguing that Siamese cats are actually brown, not black, when that made absolutely no different to the point being made, which was about genetics, using cats as an example. It was a particularly harsh/funny argument, given El is colour blind. :P

Search 'Siamese' on the old board and then go to the thread about intelligence. All will be revealed.

I went back, just for a reminded. What happened to the post counts? I distinctly remember leaving on a satisfying round number of 14000, now I have 11'something, which is just not an even number at all.

That could have been anyone, I might have just claimed it was me later. I'd certainly never be so embarrassing as to see you, look directly at you then wander off awkwardly rather than dare to say hello... :P

I'm glad, because that makes two of us

This one isn't really off topic, it's about homeopathy and all other discussions have just been tangents from there. Besides this thread had been inactive for over a year, I don't think anyone will mind. :P

Another Watermelon thread? I think it's had it's day. Besides, the point was never to keep anyone out.
