OK, I know this really doesn't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world.....but ugh! The new logo....

Looks like something you'd see on a wall in an elementary school classroom...

No, I think this is one they're sticking with. "Today we’re introducing a new logo and identity family that reflects this reality"...

I think I may have been a graphic designer or something in a past life, I get way too annoyed about fonts

Ohhh, I didn't see that part. I think Chrome bypasses the google logo on my browser and gets right to it.

And people were mocking Microsoft with their tiles-design...

Anyway, smart people use duckduckgo.com anyway. Amazing what relevant hits you can find when you don't make yourself reliant on the google algorithms. Do yurself a favour and make it your standard search engine.

"Google" is not really a serious name either :P . Duckduckgo keeps your searches safe, they don't sell your 'profile'. Unfornatuely, google already knows which porn flicks I prefer :-( .

I don't search for porn sites. No wonder you have to protect your searches.

You are not really one of those people who state "I do nothing wrong, I have nothing to hide, I have nothing against Google collecting my data." Because that is so not the point.

I didn't say I do nothing wrong but I don't recall looking up anything illegal or whatever on the net for probably 15 or so years. I do a hell of a lot of photo searches, use websites via google such as photo sites to track down or search for an image I have seen somewhere, look up data on performers, song lyrics, videos of performances i want to see, find out where certain musicians are playing and genealogy. I have nothing to hide. :P

And google uses all these searches and creates of profile of yourself. If you are fine with it, ok, but don't whine when at any time this will be used against you. I believe that my 'behaviour' online is my privacy.
Let's say a friend of yours has a disease and you google it. Google notices your interest in a disease, sells the info to your insurance, and they are willing to pay for info like this. (OK, I don't know shit about the insurance system in your country, but it is discussed here wildly). There are many things you can do with the information google gets.
Google is nice, it is fast and usually gives you the search results you are looking for, Google Maps is a neat programme, but it saves everything, it can tell you where you went on holiday, what kind of books you bought, what you eat, what your problems are, what your hobbies are etc. Some of the things I research online I don't want too many people to know. Especially not corporations which make money with selling data. And the odd thing is, there are plenty of safe (or safer) alternatives there, but people are too lazy to get to know another design. Even, if this topic certainly was started tongue in cheek: Changing the logo gets noticed and is frowned upon.

Ack. If you knew the kinds of things I search for, you would probably laugh your ass off. LOL. But, yea, I do look up medical stuff, mainly on things my ex appears to have. However, I don't have an insurance company that I pay because I have government insurance and that's guaranteed. They can't deny me and obviously, they would find out I do not have any of the things I search for so they'd probably just scratch their heads. I guess they are sick and tired of looking at osprey, though.
