If you think that my attempts to protect this board are nonsense then by all means, I'll stop.

No, but this is getting very boring now and we're ready to lock down this and any other thread it pops up in.

I think you all know the next step if it rears up again after that.

Cool, message received.

Totally agree...but JLP has politely asked that we take leave this nonsense alone now (I always knew it was nonsense from the start): Come on, fella, let us do just that, hey?

You have now stated why you think I am racist and I have given my answer. Not much more to say, lad. Happy face. :)

Back to the EU stuff. Apparently some people want to maintain the rights of EU citizens after Brexit. And that Junkers bloke hopes we will rejoin the EU some day.

The EU won't exist by the time we decide we want back in. I think they all know that the beginning of the end has started.

Yup. I think it is fair to say that the UK pushed the first domino here.

The beginning of the end was the introduction of the Euro. It was all a matter of time after that. A truly disastrous decision that has economically crippled many nations purely because some Europeans wanted to create a European state.

Europe didn't need a common currency, the exchange rate hedging models that existing did the job just fine and worked exceptionally well. If a country does not control its currency, it can not control a great deal else. Your currency is like a shock absorber that allows to so slow and increase your economy by currency devaluation, interest rate manipulation and quantitive easing. Once you lose this, you are at the mercy of the larger economies.

We certain.y dodged a bullet there.

This made me laugh yesterday:

And yesterday this:

Sounds like someone at Number 10 might be a tad superstitious :)

looking back on the referendum, does anyone else think the timing of it was a massive mistake by Cameron

yes he had to have it, as he promised to do so in the hope of getting votes off UKIP

He probably thought he would be the leader of another coalition, and as part of the deal the liberals would stop the referendum as part of the agreement

Anyway, once he had to do it, why do it in summer, when boat loads of people are crossing the Mediterranean, thus scaring the Brits that they are all on their way to Blightly
Therefore hold the referendum in December / January, when the crossing is very dangerous and not many attempt it

Also, why do it with 'the Jungle' still open in France, why not wait till it closes down, again stopping the fear of the Brits that we would be overrun

just a thought

I wasn't paying close attention to the referendum vote when it was happening because of our election in the USA but am I right that both Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson were very instrumental in the results!

if you could be influenced by them - then yes

However as much as they may have got a few extra votes for the brexit side, I truly believe the 24/7 news channel (SKY) constantly showing immigrants all over Europe - flooding into Hungary, etc, had a much bigger impact, thus a winter referendum might have had a different result.

Then again, I can also see many un-deciders becoming remainers after the murder of the female MP
