Brian May and Ricky Gervais

Brian May and Ricky Gervais

Postby musicalprostitute » Thu Oct 22, 2015 9:11 pm

It seems that Brian and Ricky may join forces in the fight against animal cruelty in the near future. I do hope so (this is music to my ears).

They are both clearly passionate and genuine animal lovers and we need more like them amongst the selfish human race.

My favourite comedian and my favourite guitarist coming together because of their love for animals - this has given me the biggest smile all day. Warms the heart. :)

Gervais used to manage a Queen tribute band. Fact.

I'm not a connoisseur in the matter, but it looks like the trimmings from a standard poodle.

Oh, you meant his jacket?
What is left of your dream?
Just the words on your stone.

But forgot how to learn.

I always thought it was a Suede tribute band; or maybe he had some connection to the real band...fuck knows.

I remember him walking out to the strains of One Vision on his Fame stand-up show. I wish he would get out there and gig again (Animals 2 please, Mr Gervais!).

I have heard quite a few people state that; he is one of those Marmite performers - you either love him or hate him. I absolutely adore him (The Office and Extras were comical genius, imho and his Animals show has to be my favourite stand-up show of all time).

And the fact that he is so compassionate towards animals just makes me love him more.

Let's just hope that they don't record a single together....

I think to me he comes across as not liking to be the but of the joke and quite arrogant. I appreciate that others like him though.

Yeah, I can see why he may come across like that. He just makes me laugh my socks off: and that is not an easy task with this grumpy twat!

Compassionate towards animals?

He certainly doesn't come across that way with Karl Pilkington.

Ah, Mr Pilkington (he with the head like a fucking orange). I love him too (in fact, one can tell how much Ricky has stole from Karl's personality comedy-wise).

I love the podcasts the three of them did (Ricky, Karl and the equally funny Stephen Merchant).

Freddie wore some fucked-up shit, but Brian has worn worse in public than just about any other rock star I can think of.
The Astoria in 1990, when he was supposed to be a surprise guest at the Xmas party with The Cross, you could see his fucking clogs under the large screen at the front of the stage, hours before he appeared to play

I love Ricky when he's presenting those American Golden Globe shows

They're best friends, and Gervais has made Pilkington a millionaire.

If you listen to their XFM shows back in the early-2000s, when Pilkington was just the producer who would occasionally say a few words and who Gervais quickly realised had comic potential, you can see that over the years Karl has become a bit less natural. I don't think he's scripted, but I think he's been told to basically not think before speaking. I'm sure he now knows that a lot of what he says is stupid, and he's playing up to it. And fair play to him, the public seem to be saying, "Yeah - what more have you got?". He's not a plonker.
