New thread, new sensible discussion about nerdy things.

Ooh. These shows are always both really interesting and slightly harrowing. The I'll have to watch it on 40D though as I have briefly returned to uni for the evening...no further explanation necessary thanks to Spook. :P

Classic Derren. Very similar to Messiah, and very well done. Obviously there's some semi-choreographed drama, but all-in-all very enjoyable and thought-provoking.

Cool, I'll be 40ding. I think I'm going to see Svengali soon, I can't remember the date but it must be quite soon.

Cooliosis. I saw it a few weeks ago and it was good, but probably his weakest tour so far, although that may be because I've seen it all before. Apparently he's made some major changes in the last week, so what you see may well be better, especially if one of the major changes was 'the content'.

 I still think his best tour was his first, and that the Mind Control Series was his best, and that Russian Roulette was his best Special. ...All in all his first of everything was the best, but that has to be because having never seen anything like it before, his fans weren't nearly as jaded as they are now. In his shows now he can pull of some very impressive tricks and the audience just look at him like yeah, we know you can do that. :P

I didn't like An Evening of Wonders much.

I didn't see the first tour :(
All I'd seen was the second half of Russian Roulette, and I'd read all the fuss in the newspapers beforehand, so when a friend of mine said he was seeing Derren but didn't know how he was going to get there, I said I'd take him and get a ticket on the door. I didn't get a ticket on the door. I ended up watching Shaun of The Dead in the cinema instead.

Then I got his Inside Your Mind DVD and became an obsessive fangirl.

I saw the first tour and I didn't know much about Derren then except bits and pieces of his TV stuff, that made me a mad screaming fangirl, I met him then, in the picture with him I was 13, and had a bit goofy grin with braces. . Inside Your Mind was where I first saw a more complete version of the Mind Control Series, and how could you not fangirl over that, his introduction still makes me lol. I remember those few years as when I was most into Derren fanhood. I missed the EOW tour because I'd drifted a bit, then I saw it on TV and was quite glad I had. I didn't like The Heist either and The System while interesting was underwhelming. It's not bad though, in his ten years the worst of his stuff has just been quite average. :P

I thought that the show was quite weak to be honest. I think that they picked the wrong guy to be 'the pastor', and the finale was really very weak indeed. Nice to know how these people work though.

Nathan was clearly uncomfortable with it at times, although that could have bene exaggerated for dramatic effect. They clearly chose him partly because he looked a bit like Jesus!

Saw Paul Rodgers twice in the last two days. He is amazing. He seems to have gone right off meeting fans though, did bump into Joe Elliot, had a chat with Spike Edney, Mick Ralphs and Howard Leese, and saw Jimmy Page from a distance. Could have done without the DVD filming tonight though, the camera guys didn't seem to want to zoom so they just got right in everyone's face.

Really, you saw Spike and Jimmy Page? :o I'm jealous. :-P Somebody that commented on the videos from the RAH that I've uploaded said that they'd been to a meet and greet before the gig with their VIP ticket, but said that they only spoke to him for a minute or so and just had one photo with him.

No he just went to see him, we didn't know he was there until we were talking to Mick Ralphs and someone just shouted "RALPHS!" from waaay away and we turned around thinking it was a fan being incredibly rude, but it was just Spike. :P
