Greetings!

Postby Avradoorn » Mon Aug 22, 2011 9:06 am

Hi everybody! Newbie here! :D Although I've been lurking for a while...
I'm 32, been a rabid Queenie since I was 12 (when I bought my dad "Innuendo" for his birthday in Feb '91 and liked it so much I kind of pilfered it...) and a pro musician by trade- a classically-trained pianist and organist, piper, bassist and just found myself, after an evening with a bottle of port and "Days of our Lives", lead guitarist in a Queen tribute band- and yep, we're one of the ones who like to dress up!
This makes me happy because I have a gigantic crush on the lovely Brian...who I've been told has recently bought a house in a village a couple of miles up the road, so I've now got it in my head that I'm going to run into him at the recycling point...not quite sure where I've got that one from, but ours is his nearest if that's true!
Hope to meet all of you soon!

Hi there :). Welcome to the boards, you will indeed find yourself in good company here, it goes without saying to one fan to another. There are some people here who also play instuements as well(I am not one of those people.) I am impressed by what you play...do you know how to play any other music than Queen's? Welcome again...see you around :).

Hello Icy! :)
Well, I'm classically-trained and my main performing thing's Baroque- haha, Baroque n'roll I suppose, I have a thing for Purcell and I was trained by a Bach scholar so a lot of that's rubbed off on me. I'm very technical/theory based, having studied harmony and composition, and that's one aspect of Queen that's really appealed to me over all other bands- their sound is as meticulously crafted, with the same combination of mathematics and instinct, as a Bach fugue- and I love anything that's both an art and a science (I have degrees in both archaeology and music, as well as being an enthusiastic amateur astronomer!) so...covers all the bases really!
I'm a working organist, which scratches the Baroque itch, but yes...sometimes...we have the occasional appearance of Mozart's "Hammer to Fall" or Bach's "Seven Seas of...something...", it's amazing what you can do when you change tempo and muck about with the left hand part! :P

Heheheh  we like Paul!
Funny thing is, I've got quite a few Free/Bad Company songs on my home-made compilation cd's I do for the car- I grew up in the era of mix-tapes so the Rock Stuff's (all carefully labelled and referenced RS1, RS2...) have been on the go for a loooong time- and always sort of wondered what "Feel Like Makin' Love" would sound like with Bri's guitar. The Paul thing was a bit...woaaahhhh...premontition time.. did I just premonish that? (and if it's not a word, it is now!)
Not that said thought was inspired by any inclinations towards Doing Things to the poor chap...honest... ;)

Usually preceeded by "Ey up!" (born in Nottingham, reared in Staveley, imported to Northumberland...)
My crowning moment in your neck of the woods was being taken for a walk while trying to throw off a spectacular hangover and being vigorously sick next to the Major Oak.
Freddie would have been so proud! ;)
