Dalglish gone.

He was lucky not to be sacked after the Suarez incidents, where his behavior was indespicable. If it had been anyone other than Dalglish in charge the Liverpool fans would have been calling for his head a long time ago. Finishing 8th with their worst points tally in over 50 years is simply not good enough.

I can see Suarez going in the summer and it will show that our club is being driven by sheer commercialism with owners in fear of sponsors who are more interested in the quarterly balance sheet than the Saturday results.

You could say that for any manager though. How would Fergie or Wenger do at West Ham, they'd end up 7th at the very best. The 'best' managers are sadly judged on what they win and to win consistently they will need to be at a rich club. That's why I have Brian Clough at the top of my list.

Wouldn't argue with you about Cloughie,if Fergie Or Wenger got The Hammers to 7th every year.......i'd be a very happy man, alas........................

Sod that you'd be above us :D . How do you rate suitcase head Sam? Do you know who I want as our next manager........Moyes. This would only happen in a parallel universe though.

He is not what you'd expect for a West Ham manager BUT i think he was exactly (at the time) what we needed, someone to come in (who isn't a yes man) and rattle a few cages.Although disappointed not to go up automatically (Reading & The Saints were better & deserved it) i think we have got better as the season ends.Blackpool on saturday is gonna be very hard but if we do win i'm confident Sam will keep us up reletively easy (i think he is more suited to the premier than the Championship).Yes Moyles is a good manager but like you said at your place not in a million years, your next manager ? no idea.............. Maybe Happy Harry ??? As for our next Manager if / when Sam Goes will be 1oo % ............... Paulo de Canio (you heard it here first)

King Kenny went to the barbers, asked for a Liverpool haircut; messy at the back, very little on the sides and nothing up front. He got charged 130 million!

A guy walked into Subway and said "gimme the most expensive sub you've got", two seconds later Andy Carroll walked out from the back of the shop.

Kenny got pulled by the police at Liverpool Airport for lifting a packet of cigarettes. He said "All I needed was 20 Players!"
What is left of your dream?

But forgot how to learn.

So apparently we've spoken to Martinez and AVB, and Brendan Rodgers has said he's not interested. No word on Rafa, or the ridiculously optimistic idea or Mourinho or Guardiola.

Whilst Martinez is being approached, a couple of months ago, Wigan were so far adrift they looked certain to be relegated. Is he really big enough for Liverpool? It is similar to Hodgson in my opinion. And look how that ended.

I completely agree. Yeah, Martinez worked wonders for Wigan in the last few weeks of the season, but he was also the manager that lead them to the bottom of the league and made such a run of form necessary! The only difference between him and Hodgson is that he's much younger and therefore has the potential to improve. But no thank you. Maybe AVB would be a good choice, because he's young and has actually been successful with a big club (in fact he was incredibly successful with Porto). I'd rather see Rafa return, or perhaps Klopp.

ETA: Klopp has in the last hour or so ruled himself out.

On Betfair:

Martinez 3.5
AVB 4.4
Rafa 9.8
Rodgers 13
Deschamps 16.5
Rijkaard 19
Capello 32

Is Deschamps any good? He had a very impressive win rate at Juventus (70%), but that is misleading as Juventus were in Serie B at the time!

I've got no problem with hiring a foreigner - Liverpool consider themselves to be 'Scouse' rather than 'British' anyway - but they should at least have some sort of link to the club. Benitez definitely does (although of course he didn't when he arrived!).

Apparently there's going to be a parade tomorrow near my house, with all sorts of road closures and similar tedium. No thanks! So I guess I have to support Bayern Munich purely to avoid public transport aggro.

(Yes, I'm a NIMBY)

I hope Martinez isn't their man, ditto Rafa - I know he's got a lot of support but think it a backward step. Despite what happened at Chelsea AVB may be an interesting choice - and he was a target for Liverpool previously and very highly regarded prior to going to Stamford Bridge.

Well his record at Porto was incredible. They won the Europa Cup, and in the league they won 27, drew 3 and lost 0. They won the league by 21 points. Admittedly the Portuguese league isn't the Premiership, but that division includes Benfica and Sporting Lisbon, and the previous season Porto came third.

So is Di Matteo THAT much better than AVB?

Okay, fine, I cheered when Cech saved that penalty.
