It appears that the new Liverpool manager is Brendan Rodgers.

It's a risky one but I'm happy. Swansea play the right way so let's see what he can do. The biggest thing he needs from everyone is patience. FSG are putting together a new structure at the club so hopefully the club can progress. I wonder if we'll still be getting Van Gaal or Begiristain as Sporting Director. Let's see how much FSG give him to spend.

Got lots of time for the guy, he seems to know how the game should be played, but this is a huge risk, both by him and Liverpool.

Well if it goes tits up he could always manage the Northern Ireland team :P .

I'm peeved I didn't have a bet on him at 16/1 as I was told by someone in the know he was our first choice but after Rodgers initially knocked us back I thought that someone was wrong.

The sad fact is that both City, and even Chelsea, can massively outbid anything Liverpool do. The global empire that is Manure means that's the top 3 sorted for next year leaving liverpool to fight for crumbs at the champions league table.

True, but you can't buy soul. I also think there's enough decent players to go around, we just have to be better at spotting them early enough.

And money doesn't guarantee success, how much did Kenny spend? and for all the multi millions City spent they only just scraped the title from a very ordinary United team.

Not too dissimilar from the Premier League table, is it?

Also makes Brendan Rodgers seem like an excellent idea.

Kenny spent £35m net for the whole period he was there. Over the same period Man U spent £51m net - and finished 2nd. Should they be ordinary for that amount of money invested?

In the end though money does guarantee success, Blackburn, Leeds, Chelsea, Man City, all achieved with money thrown at them. Only difference now is we don't just have the one sugar daddy throwing money about.

He spent over 100 million on players, never mind how much he got back in, 100 million to finish 8th is not good enough, one of the reasons he now doesn't have a job.

Wow - don't ever go on Dragon's Den with that understanding of economics! They'll tear you to pieces.

If you sell a player for £50million and buy a replacement for £35million, you shouldn't expect your squad to be £35million better. That's insane logic.

Expand that, and spending £100million doesn't make you £100million worth of players better, if you also sold £65million worth.

So if he sold £200m worth of players he's still spent £100m? Stop reading the headlines.
