Benfica so deserve to be in the final of Europa League against Chelsea. And we're over France in the UEFA ranking, being now 5th

Reading reports/rumours that Sir Alex is ready to leave Old Trafford. Can't see United getting in someone that would be as good as him. Even Jose Mourinho.

Well Fergie has to retire sometime and they should prepare for the transition.

It is official.

Could this be a last Fergie masterstroke? Could Jose end up at United rather than Chelsea?
Come on you Tigers.

As long as they don't try and get Sir Steve from us. :P They could always go for Phil Brown. If nothing else, he winds Wenger up like no one else..

Mourinho is pissed off with Real and is bitter at them. People say he'd get lots to go back to Chelsea, but I don't see him being Abramovich's puppy again. I've read about Moyes going to MUFC. And Fergie will be director of MUFC.

Don't you fancy Moyes Guru? Why?

The overall view of the Man U supporters I know is a negative one. They say his team just lumps the ball to Fellaini, maybe in the last minute of a game to snatch a draw but his Everton team play good football. Worries about Moyes not being a big enough draw for big players. Surely the club itself (and its wages) are big enough. As for his lack of Euro experience, he'll have the huge shadow of Fergie looking down from above. What you'll get is loyality and stability.

At least with Mourinho not going there theres less risk of me booting the telly off its stand.

You trusted Fergie for 26 years I wouldnt doubt his final act. Moyes will do well, hoping not, but he will.

Best news i've heard for ages, Taggart only running off because he knows the power shift is turning towards City. Good to see him going out in true Fergie style ie bottling it in europe.

Moyes will crumble under the pressure and Utd will become the new Arsenal to appease the directors.

Being director, I believe the new manager will keep hearing Fergie.

Given the choice between Moyes & Mourinho, who would any club choose? If you don't believe that Utd have the choice of Mourinho you're too blinkered for rational conversation, so why not take the most successful guy available? OK, Liverpool may be a bad example, but if City had the choice of those two, who would they go for? Chelsea? Bayern Munich? PSG?

It's not about the style of football, it's about the likelihood of success. Moyes is a gamble, Mourinho isn't.

Plus there's a strong sense that this is a Glazer-nomic appointment. Moyes will cost less and accept much smaller budgets - in fact there's a rumour that lack of transfer budget was a factor in Fergie's sudden decision (and while on the cards for years, make no mistake that this has happened suddenly).

Having said all that - now that he's in, he has to be given a chance. Hopefully our support will not sink to the depths plumbed recently by other fans. Minimum a FULL season.

Power shift

Remind me how many European Trophies your provincial little joke of a smalltime club has won? To be clear, the 1971 Texaco Cup doesn't count
