Ah right. Thanks for clearing that up.

This blog goes a little further. It seems the teams have been using the tyres on the opposite sides of the car to those intended, which can cause problems, as well as low pressures and extreme cambers:

I think that the whole issue proves that in-season testing is necessary and must be re-introduced. I highly doubt it has saved costs as was the original intention.

I don't think they so much "explode" as just "rapidly disintegrate".

More to do with the mass of the casing and centrifugal force, than tyre pressure causing it to explode.

Basically what saw to the Air France Concorde at CDG. Big chunk of tyre breaking off doing about 200 rpm hitting slap bang on the centre of a fuel tank panel.

These current F1 tyres have a braided steel strap around the casing, so when bits of them go flying off, it can be quite dodgy if you happen to get in the way of it's progress.

That has GOT to be one of the most entertaining qualifying sessions I've EVER watched. Especially the two minutes after the chequered flag came out.

Ultimately, someone up the top of the F1 tree has got to know that Vettel winning it every year, isn't really helping the thought that it is meant to be a competitive sport, even IF you can argue he's the best driver on the track.

I often wonder how great Vettel would be if he wasn't in that Red Bull. But I guess that's true of pretty much any good driver... Except Alonso, who somehow managed to do as well as he did last year in that abysmal Ferrari.

I was actually at the race for the whole weekend, and it was awesome. Especially quali, which was kinda mad with the well-timed rain. The race itself wasn't the best, but we did have great seats. The GP3 race on Saturday was awesome too, mostly because they all kept crashing into each other.

Looks like it'll be interesting to watch Ferrari next year:

Can't see Kimi taking it up the arse from the team like Masa has done.

Totally agree. Either this is going to push Alonso to even greater heights or he'll throw his dummy like he did at McLaren. Either way, Kimi's in the right place.

Any word on what Massa's doing next season? I feel really sorry for him, he just hasn't been the same since his accident. Perhaps he needs a fresh start in a team that won't sideline him so badly.

All I know is that he tweeted last night confirming he won't be driving for Ferrari next year. I reckon that, assuming he gets a drive, we'll see an invigorated Massa, much like we did with Barricello when he moved to Brawn.
