This I will ask. Have you used the same bike throughout?
I have several routes near to where I live, but don't want to say where that is.
I will say that I am in as much of rural and beautiful England as it's possible to be within 10 mins of my house.
I am proud, very, very proud, it's very hard work, but it's such a buzz. I feel tremendously fit, even if I don't look it!
I don't have regrets in life but I do wish I had started this as a youngster instead of drinking and smoking like a trooper until I was 40. You can't put an old head on young shoulders though, so there's no point wishing what could have been.
Pain? Well, I am really lucky, I don't find it painful, well apart from an agonising pain in the palm of my hand during an 85 mile ride on holiday the other week. It's a known issue and it was real agony. Seems to be better now though.
No, I have bought several bikes, will get a carbon bike next year. The difference a good bike makes is astounding...and the bike I have now isn't a good one, it's just better than the last one!
