I meant to say condoning, I have no idea how that 'l' got in there instead.

The homophobia and dog issue bothers me too. Truly I think Sochi is still unprepared for all of this.

This is probably as good as it gets.

If I was head of that city I wouldn't have let the stray dog situation grow to the proportion that it did in the first place. Surely they have veterinarians there capable of neutering and spaying-and grant money or the means of raising funds to subsidize such programs.
One of the dogs pictured in this video appears to have Pointer in it, an excellent bird dog with good pet qualities. What a shame! At any rate, shooting and poisoning the reported "thousands" of stray dogs is as bad as the badger culling in the UK. I've heard and read stories of dogs rolling around in agony after having ingested the poison.
I'm not buying the story that this is for the protection of the visitors. Not entirely. More likely it's a rushed up attempt to cover an embarrassing case of sloppy city management.

I watched the video and it seems that extermination companies are doing the dog round up, not the police. I'm not defending the Russian police, they are responsible for a lot of atrocities but everyday in the US it seems the police overstep the line too.
I respect your right to not watch a video but strongly resent the implication that it shouldn't be made fun of because it's 'making fun of important issues'. It happens in politics all the time and is what most satirical news programs like 'The Daily Show' are based on.
Now back to the Olympics; The Italian men's Ice Skater in the long program team event skated to a Queen medley of WWTLF, BR and WRTC. Hopefully it will appear on youtube soon.

The lead singer is very very good! IMO
