TENNIS

Postby jimbo » Thu May 08, 2014 12:52 pm

I really like tennis, playing and watching it. Anyone else into tennis?

With the French Open and Wimbledon coming up soon, this is the peak time of the year for us tennis fans :-D

Should be good this year, with Roger Federer playing well again and Andy Murray fit, hopefully some competition for Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic!

Anyway, hopefully the weather will improve so that I can actually get out there and play some tennis. Indoor courts around my way are too expensive, so can only really play when the weather is good.
Hot Space is actually only my 6th favourite Queen album.
(But is a very underrated album in my opinion).

Wrong section Jimbo. This should be posted in 'The Game'. You will get even less replies in there though. :P

Hate tennis, hate playing it, watching it, discussing it. There, that's me...

Haha, I've been here a year, and never even knew that section of this website existed, that's how easy it is to find

Edit:-
There is some great sports discussion there, and I've missed it all, thanks for pointing it out anyway!

2 great looking Mens Semi Finals later today in Paris at the French Open :-D

Andy Murray v Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic v Ernest Gulbis!

I would recommend these 2 tennis matches to anyone who shows any interest in tennis at all, I think both could be excellent

I hate watching tennis on TV, but a mate talked me into going to Wimbledon one year and it's a great day out. I've been quite a few times since.

Still hate women's tennis though.

I'd have thought both matches will be one sided, Murray has done well to make the semi's, he's making good progress, but slowly.

Yes it's much better live. One of the problems with tennis on TV is they have the cameras too far away, looking down from too high, and it just doesn't look dynamic enough. When they use cameras from just above head height at the back of the court, you get a much better view of the players amazing shot making, power and skill. They need to use those camera angles much more, otherwise it does get dull sometimes.

Women's tennis can be dull when there are 2 similar players who stay at the back of the court playing the same topspin forehands and backhands over and over again, it is rubbish. But there are some great attacking women players who are great to watch. But overall I prefer mens tennis, and ideally a great attacker against a great defender usually makes for the best matches.

You were right, I was wrong, very disappointing. Luckily I was working in the end and missed both matches.

Well after 2 very disappointing mens Semis finals, both finals were excellent. The Women's was the best final I've seen in years, and the Men's was filled with great play and tension throughout, well done Rafa!
