The game itself was needlessly violent.

On Friday: Uruguay vs France and Brazil vs Belgium.
On Saturday: Sweden vs England and Croatia vs Russia.

We'll see what happens.

BTW, I think it's fairly safe that Kane will remain top goalscorer. There are a few people with three goals (Mbappé [a strong candidate for best player award IMO], Cavani, two from the hosts) and Lukaku with four, but it's unlikely they'll surpass him at this point.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger did not compose 'Innuendo.' Witness testimonies are often inaccurate. Scotland's not in England. 'Bo Rhap' hasn't got 180 voices.

If he’s feeling under threat he’ll just swear on his daughter’s life that he scored another.

No need.

I was at work and someone came in just after extra time started. Bet on silly virtual races and bingo. Even put a fucking bet on and wanted a pay out during the shoot out.

I honestly thought we'd had it when it went to penalties, but it seems we've finally laid that ghost to rest. During the second half, we should have installed diving boards in Colombia's half. Good riddance, you dirty, cheating little shitehawks. GO ENGLAND!

I don't follow the World Cup these days, but I have been hearing some positive things about the England team this year...which makes a change.

Might have to dig my flag out and join in the good fun. Go England indeed! :)

Sweden will be a difficult game, but not as difficult as the one the Belgians have. Good luck to them!

Pity those kids trapped in that mountain are a Thai football team...

You'd have thought they'd have all been quite proficient at diving, if they had been a Colombian one.

Suppose at this point, we can always "dream" of a Belgium-England final, and see what the "first" teams will play like against each other.

Long way off, really, and whoever wins in the Sweden-England game, they might well have to face an unexpectedly in-form Russian team on home turf, with the stadium going the Russian form of bananas, in support. THAT wouldn't be an easy game, whoever has to play it.
