Elton John Thread

Postby icy » Wed Aug 08, 2012 10:25 pm

Here is a thread where all things about Elton can be talked about.
As some of you know, I'm a big fan of him and his music.
Yesterday(with much and many thanks to a dear friend :bigups: ) I became the owner of Love Is The Cure...it looks to be a great book, if bittersweet.
I'll post more about Elton, videos etc later on.

Just a word of encouragement on the new thread.

I don't think we would have minded talking about Elton, though. He likes Adam, so we like him. Besides, if we can suffer through ten pages of Duran Duran and Adam Ant videos, we can take just about anything. :)

So, let's see... what do I know about Elton John. Hmm. I know he writes great melodies, does lots of charity work, wears big glasses and dresses like a duck. :P

But I look forward to learning more as the thread unfolds.

I love Elton's music, I have the "songs from the west coast" cd and I like it a lot...
Nikita's a hell of a beautiful and criticizing song, Daniel's beautiful, Look mama no hands... and he criticized Madonna quite heavily and is way right.

A few of my favorites from two albums the critics didn't care for.

Yep, Roger & John!

The closing two tracks from Sleeping With The Past. This album is highly underrated IMO.

@ Monta~This thread wasn't started as a dig at Adam fans. I have wanted to do a thread about Elton John for ages, many here know and respect I'm a fan of him, and I'm pleased to see this thread take off. I admit there are things I don't know about Elton, but it's all good. You asked me why he was on my mind. Simply put he and his music means the world to me. Always.

This is a great album track. One of Taupin's best lyrics.
The lyrics are incredibly prescient and ahead of their time with the regular mass shootings these days.

 Spot on, Knute. I heard that recently, and it took me aback how fitting it is for today, years before, and I hate to say it, it might always will.
