One of my favorites.

Elton John appeared on The Talk today. About the tour and he wants to spend more time with his kids.

:inlove: Just saw an advertisement on The Talk...didn't catch who it was for, but I loved the ad of watching "Elton John" through the years. From now, to when he got his first piano.

Oh gosh, I'm so excited for Rocketman. Only a few more weeks left! I know a bit about his life, but not enough that creative liberties will annoy the sh*t out of me like they did with Bohemian Rhapsody. Also love the fact that it's being treated more or less like a fantasy musical. Sounds interesting.

Great interview.

phpBB [video]

His comment toward the end about this being a telling of a Rockstar's life without all the gloss felt like a stab at Bohemian Rhapsody, and perhaps rightfully so. But the benefit of Rocketman, is we've got the blessing of the man himself in telling the story, and he's apparently not afraid to go dark. I often wonder what Freddie would have really wanted from a movie about himself...guess we'll never know.

What a let down of a movie. Too much musical for me.

Cinemablend:

Rocketman has no choice but to be compared with the huge recent hit that was Bohemian Rhapsody. Honestly, there are worse problems. When it comes to the opening box office, the Elton John biopic doesn't quite hold a candle in the wind to killer Queen, but no one expected it to.

Rocketman is rated R and made the bold choice to fully explore Elton John's sex and drugs lifestyle. The movie shows sex scenes between men, and that's still seen as controversial in a few markets, which limits the overall audience. The filmmakers figured that would be the case, but made the decision anyway to be true to Elton's story.

Taron Egerton plays Elton John in the new biopic and he said he'd be happy to make even half of Bohemian Rhapsody's money. Rocketman is not likely to make that much overall, but the domestic opening was about half of Bohemian's domestic opening. So there you go.

Elton refused to tone down the move unlike Brian &Roger. He wanted a tell all story and not some disneyfied biopic for the masses. After watching BH I have to say I believe Sacha’s story instead of anything for a buck Brian’s story. Good for Elton!!!!!

I liked BH but it seemed like a movie about a fictional band based loosely on Queen.

He stood his ground... I've not seen it yet, but it seems he was going to bat for it. As he should.
If you have seen it, is there anything that surprised you about it?
Fingers crossed I get out of this funk I'm in, so I can see it this week sometime.

I’ll wait until it’s released to buy before I see. I’ll most likely agree with Another Roger if it’s too much like a musical. Does it show him playing Sun City in the movie? I thought the Queen biopic should have touched on that.
