Yeah, have definitely got into Game Of Thrones.

Great how such nasty characters as Tyrion and Jaime can become so likeable, still don't like Joffrey or his mother though, but saying that, they DID dispense with that albino twat who sold his sister (the one with the cute little dragons).

My only criticism, is that it's a very American-ised viewpoint of what we might consider to be the typical traditions of the Middle Ages in Europe, which is ironical in itself, because (and this isn't a criticism of the people) most Americans only really everybody else's history prior to the Mayflower and all that.

Gawd, that's a toughie... missing out so much magnificence with just five.

1. Doctor Who
2. The Mighty Boosh
3. Bottom
4. The X-Files
5. Spaced

Honourable mentions must go to 24, Life On Mars, Red Dwarf, Mongrels, The Day Today, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace and The League Of Gentlemen.

Top 5 ever? I'd have to throw in BBC's Fawlty Towers and our old Barney Miller sitcom. Especially the episode when all the detectives unwittingly eat hash brownies. :funny2:

That's an interesting observation. What is that makes you think of an American-ized viewpoint? The way people keep killing other people?

I don't know. It's a perception.

Maybe because American soaps were the first to take the concept of a hundred and fifty years worth of global worst case scenarios, and disasters, and incorporate them into a single working week, pretty much wherever you want:- in a hospital; in a police district; on a cruise ship; ...ad infinitum.

Take how many different factions are after the power in GOT. You've got the Lannisters, the Starks, Blonde haired dragon lady Denaerys, you've got the brother(s) of the dead King, we're not counting the trecherous bastards on the inside like people with no tackle, brothel owners, a dwarf, a bloke called Hound wih half his face missing, plus you've got these rebels in the North who are getting eaten by zombies.

I think of it as maybe Americanised, because you can just imagine a lot of the audience over there just swallowing it all like handfuls of popcorn, and thinking England in the Middle Ages really WAS just like this.

Been going a bit wild recently.

Walking Dead - Season 3
Homeland - Season 2
True Blood - I think it was Season Five
Breaking Bad - First 8 episodes of the last season.
Game of Thrones - Seasons 1 & 2.

Back to Dexter next, pick up where I left up on that, about halfway through season 4, I think.

Then stacked up in my rack waiting to go, there's The 4400 (first two seasons), House (complete), 24 (complete), The West Wing (complete), The Shield (complete), The Wire (four seasons worth), haven't even watched a single episode of those, Vampire Diaries (latest 2 seasons), and THEN there's finishing off the last seasons of Heroes and Lost. It's difficult to get started on those, when all the ones I'm currently into keep putting out new ones.

I recently got Netflix and Amazon recently so I've been trying to catch up on some missed shows. Right now I'm catching up on Dr. Who. Finally in series 7.2. I'm also watching Breaking Bad (from the beginning) with the wife.

Also rewatching How I Met Your Mother concurrently with the last season...

In the queue still: Torchwood (complete), Supernatural (complete), Orange Is The New Black, Arrow...

Shield and The WIre should be in my queue...Might have to remedy that...

Tried watching the first episode of The Wire a few months back, it didn't bite me. Saying that, I had to get all the way into the second season of The Fringe, before that inspired me into thinking "This is compulsive viewing", a case of I'd bought it, so I'm going to f*cking watch it. By the time I got the season three, I thought it was bloody brilliant.

Though I've got to say, Homeland is pretty much in a class of it's own. Both seasons of that, I haven't wanted to leave the TV, from the first episode of each season coming on, like a good book you can't put down.

Needless to say, we were in the middle of a season of Dexter (four, I think), when the latest rush of boxsets happened and it went on the back burner, that was back in mid July, and I'm only just thinking of trying to find where I was when I last watched it. I've got season five and six ready to roll, and when I get started on six, I'll think about buying seven. No point before that, as the prices of these things second hand only come down, the more that come on the market.

I started Breaking Bad a couple of weeks ago. Been motoring through and I'm up to season 4 now.

I'd recommend quitting Dexter circa end of season 6. 7 and 8 do have their occasional moments but are overall a disappointment, and the ending nearly ruins the whole show. I will pretend the final few episodes didn't happen and the show got cancelled.

I think you could say the same about Lost and Heroes, but I'll eventually get round to suffering the inevitable.

One that I've not been tempted to revisit at all, since seeing selected episodes in it's first season, was The Event. What a load of bollocks that was turning into, after such a hyped up, and possibly promising start.

Highspot of Breaking Bad for me was in the first series, and that mess coming through the ceiling at Jesse's place. It's all good, just that's the best it gets for me. Enough said.

The ending of Lost was brilliant. I gave up on Heroes.
