Now I'm following Nile (twitter) and reading his blog. I love his guitar and he seems to be a very sweet person. I think that Avicii is a very clever and gifted young man and the collaboration Nile Rodgers&Avicii&Adam Lambert is 'match made in heaven'

Thanks for your good wishes to Nile earlier in this thread. I'm a big believer of support.
What do you like from Nile's past works? I don't think there is nothing I don't like, I love his work with Bowie and Madonna.

Chic and Diana's "I'm Coming Out" & "Upside Down" are the obvious ones but I also liked his work with Madonna, B-52's, and Bryan Ferry. Here are a couple of tracks with him that I also love.

icy,

I loved the three singles from Let's Dance but I can't stand the rest of the album. That is the problem with most of the albums Nile produces IMO. Strong singles with a lot of filler.

Damn, I miss INXS. I was a big fan of them in the late 80s/early 90s. I do remember being surprised that Nile worked with them, he did and very well.

OUCH! Slant wasn't kind to the new ablum or the Nile tracks.

"Lay Me Down" and "Shame on Me" follow the same wildly misguided template, only with "funky" '80s-soul vocals and an extra helping of synth squeals. The latter is particularly loathsome, adding obnoxious Frampton-esque vocal robotics to the braying din.

Back to the positive:

“Lay Me Down,” produced in part by Nile Rodgers, who is having a banner year, and featuring a bracing vocal by Adam Lambert, is completely valid modern disco, faithful to the genre as it once was but not a slavish throwback. It’s another escape into yesteryear by an artist carrying today — and tomorrow — on his shoulders.

I admit, I feel bad for Nile there.

"Avicii on Adam Lambert: "His voice is just insane" September 25, 2013

Avicii has heaped praise on Adam Lambert, calling him a "reincarnation of Freddie Mercury".

The two artists teamed up alongside guitarist Nile Rodgers for the track 'Lay Me Down', which features on the Swedish DJ's new album 'True'.

Speaking to David Atlanta, Avicii said that not only is Lambert a powerful singer, but he is a "great writer" too. He said:

"Adam has an amazing voice. More than anything, he’s also a great writer. But his voice is just insane! He’s like a reincarnation of Freddie Mercury. Actually more like a mixture of Freddie Mercury and Robert Plant."

Speaking about how the collaboration came about, the DJ said:

"It was Nile Rodgers that kinda had the connection with him and brought him down to put the vocals on a demo that Nile and I did. We weren’t even intending to have him sing on the final track. But then he did such an amazing job on the demo, we were like, 'Why go look for someone else?' It’s brilliant as it is. There was another song we did with Adam. It was about going down on a girl. He was like 'Well it’s not for me, but I’ll sing it. I’ll do it for the people, I’ll go down for the people'. One way or another we all go down!"

Of all the links out there, you post the one where it mentions "reincarnation of Freddie Mercury".

Nile is really excited about the new "going down on a girl" song. He's 61 not 16. If he releases that song the critics will tear it apart.

I was wondering why, too. It's not like people haven't written about oral sex before.

So true, and even younger people like Bruno get criticized when they write sexually explicit songs. Nile's song will be very stupid and juvenile. I'll listen to the latest Kanye CD and my old 2 Live Crew CDs if I want to hear somebody sing about that.
