Yeah, I'm lost in the night
The icy wind is howling out your name
The moon has gone behind the cloud again
And I can't stand to live another day
'Cause my bluebird went away

So sad. My son posted on Facebook that without Chuck Berry, I would not have listened to the music I did as a kid. And therefore neither would he.
Come on you Tigers.

One of the founders and chief influences of Rock 'n' Roll- his legacy will never be forgotten. Chuck, you were a fricking legend.

Who could forget this naughty bit of fun?

Ive played Johnny B Goode in every band I've ever played in. I refuse to play it now but it was a song well before its time.

Oh Gawd, that song. Being from his area, I saw him play live more times than I can count. All the kids and guys in the bands used to go to his house after their own gigs and party. There was never a concert of his where this wasn't played. I was always barfing out in the crowd - not really but just kinda cringing. lol. I just never did like that song. But many did, of course.

Like this one better.

I don't know her but Chuck's daughter, Ingrid Berry-Clay, sings with my friend, Steve Scorfina on occasion. There is a special connection between Steve and Chuck as Chuck took him aside and taught him a lot when Steve was just a kid hanging around the record shops.

Here's Ingrid singing with Steve's band at that time. I love her voice!

Probably THE most influential musician to have walked the planet in my lifetime.

Without him, there probably wouldn't be The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and just about everything else based in rock and roll that followed.

And there were two riffs that started just about every big hit he ever had. My Ding A Ling shouldn't be what he is remembered for though. He was MUCH better than that.
What is left of your dream?
Just the words on your stone.
A man who learnt how to teach,
But forgot how to learn.
