This is very, very sad news for me. And I am sure for so many. I watched her shows and reruns of her shows since I was a teen. RIP beautiful lady. You will never be forgotten.

Ouch ... that's really sad. I knew this was coming but it's still awful. One of my favourite actors since my childhood, and what a voice he had! Will be missed.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger did not compose 'Innuendo.' Witness testimonies are often inaccurate. Scotland's not in England. 'Bo Rhap' hasn't got 180 voices.

The sheer quantity of legendary films he has been in, is amazing.

I seriously doubt there is anyone, alive or dead, with a more impressive filmography.

Indeed. Quite possibly the finest successful actor Britain has ever produced. He could be adorably charming and wickedly vile on the turn of a coin. And off screen, he appeared to be every bit as delightful.

For my part, I'd wager the following are essential viewing if anyone out there hasn't seen them...

10 Rillington Place
The Ghoul
The Naked Civil Servant
I, Claudius
Midnight Express
Alien
The Elephant Man
1984
The Storyteller
Owning Mahowny
The Proposition
V For Vendetta
An Englishman in New York
The Last Panthers

And of course, his appearance in Doctor Who. And he'd just recently finished a fourth audio series expanding on that one-off role, because he'd become so enamoured with the idea that he was one of the Doctors now.

Hell, he could even make guff like King Ralph entertaining. What a legend.

As a big fan of Alien, I was really saddened to wake up to this news.

Perhaps John Cazale. Only in five films, and all of them nominated for a Best Picture Oscar.

But yeah, John Hurt was in some magnificent movies. Even in the bad ones he was in, he always brought a touch of pure class.

In fact, there's only one guy I can think of, Samuel L Jackson, and I'm not saying his films are any better than John Hurt's ones, only the sheer volume of successful movies that the guy has been in, both of them have been in, is a crazy number.

The only real rival for Quality Control consistency has to be that feller over there... --------------->

I suspect Ryan Gosling will be a candidate in a few years time.

Bill Paxton died from complications with surgery. Age, only 61. R.I.P. Bill and thanks for the memories and the good times. Man, this is getting to be terrible. Just awful.

Yeah, from Tombstone to Twister to Aliens to True Lies to the completely overlooked One False Move, I was a big fan of his.

Really sad to hear he's passed, and in such a sudden and unexpected way as well.
