Song is still gaining spins on radio and it's up to #33 on Top 40 radio. Unfortunately it's still not doing shit on the Billboard Hot 100. Sounds like it could be an Adam Lambert "hit".

LOL. Only from American standards. This single is in no country really successful, from what I have seen.

It's charted in some countries and it's silver in the UK. It's also gold in Canada, Australia, and Sweden. Thing is, I think most people purchased the album so there is no need to purchase the single unless you want the new version. :P

I'll bet my left nut that Sam's second album sold twice as many copies in the UK than Adam's TOH sold on the entire planet.

Talking albums, you might be right. Nevertheless, this single isn't a hit, not even compared to Adam's standards (worldwide).
How many copies did he sell in the UK by the way?

In the UK it's at 200,000 but just like Adam's numbers that also includes streams. I agree the song isn't a hit but it is gaining spins on radio and it has a shiny new video. I don't even care for the song and I don't know why it was released as a single.

If your talking about the album it has sold over 600,000 in the UK.

600 000 albums in the UK???
That means, that about every 100th person in the UK owns that album.
I guess, streaming is included as well. But, are you sure?

He isn’t nearly as popular in my country (Germany). And his last album sold these insane 600.000 copies in the UK and 865.000 worldwide? (Wikipedia, my browser didn’t allow me to open your link.). That means he sold „only“ 265.000 (certified) albums in the rest of the world. Poor guy. But The UK seems to love him an awful lot.

I‘m absolutely not into his music, but I come regularly „across“ him by following Adam on social media. They keep in touch and share a few friends. One of Sam’s old friends from his school was recording with Adam last month.

And I watched Sam‘s Instagram Story on his birthday: He seems to be really sweet, but as a woman I couldn’t help but feel: „Girl, grow some balls!“

You know what's really funny? TOH probably hasn't sold that total.

Your numbers are way low! You didn't see that it pushed 237,000 copies in the US its first week. The album stayed in the top 50 for over 25 weeks and it's still in the top 100 after 27 weeks.

You say he's not popular where you're from but it peaked at number 8 in Germany.

The link you couldn't open is the official British certification site. It was certified 2X platinum in March.

"Sam Smith's second album 'The Thrill Of It All' has just passed the 600k mark and gone 2x Platinum in the UK.

It follows Smith's critically acclaimed debut 'In The Lonely Hour'which is now 7x Platinum, and also helped land him two BRIT Awards in 2015, after being crowned Critics' Choice in 2014.

'The Thrill Of It All' was led by Platinum seller 'Too Good At Goodbyes'.

Sam also received another certification this week as 'Stay With Me' went 3x Platinum, passing the 1.8 million mark."

The UK numbers are the same on Wikipedia, where I was looking.
As for Germany: Yes, the second album peaked at #8 and stayed in the top 100 for 12 weeks. But it wasn’t certified, meaning it sold less than 100.000. (The first album got gold (100.000).

And only the first single of the second album charted in Germany at all (Too Good at Goodbyes: peak 18/21 weeks).
No certification.

Numbers for Album Number 1 (Germany):
It peaked at 17, but was 53 weeks in the charts, reached gold (100.000 copies).
Most successful single by far: „Stay with me“ , peaked at 11. (600.000 copies sold/3x gold).
