It is a huge amount of money for a concert ticket but they must expect the tickets to sell at that price otherwise they wouldn't charge it.

I paid about $150 on the main floor at that arena to see Queen + Adam in 2014. I looked at the ticket site for Adele and was shocked to see prices starting at $200 something and then steadily going up to 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900 and on up to 14,600. There may be some very wealthy people able to pay that but most people in Michigan wouldn't be in that category!

That has to be a scalper selling it for that because the floor tickets for that show are $149.50. I know most of the dates sold out in seconds so I guess they think some idiot will pay that much. Just wait to the week of the show and I'm sure they will open up good seats at face value.

That's a scalper site.

I'd like to know who told her she can sing. Awful screeching, moaning and depressing.

Since those venues "sold out" in seconds, I wonder if the lower prices are what the ticket agencies paid for the tickets they buy up so they can turn around and jack up the price for the buyers who can't get them because they are supposedly sold out! Her website says that every single one of her shows are sold out, but when I checked there were many seats available at those jacked up prices!

WTF? :?

Of course they only paid face value for the tickets. It's a big fucking scam and it's been going on for years. Apparently it's legal now since we have sites like Stubhub and Vividseats all over the Internet. Hell, you can even scalp your tickets on Ticketmaster now and that's where you get face value tickets.

The shows have sold out because scalpers and people who want to go to the show bought all of the tickets.

Tool just had the same thing happen with their recent tour but I can still find tickets on the scalper sites.

Speaking of Adele, I love this song and I somehow completely forgot about it until today.

There was a report on ABC News about the problem modern day concerts are having with ticket scalpers. The scalpers have special software that can basically buy up an entire show in seconds, and apparently there isn't a lot the ticket sites can do about it. Then the tickets go on sale on the scalper sites for huge sums. Regular people don't stand much of a chance.

I miss the days when you had to go stand in line at Ticketmaster or call on the phone to get a ticket to a show. It was a pain but at least you had a shot at a ticket. I remember kids camping out at the mall outside the store with the Ticketmaster the night before a Bon Jovi show went on sale in 1986. You don't have to do that anymore but you also can't get faced value tickets to big shows any more unless you're either very lucky or willing to pay scalper prices.

Similar to Germany's fixed book prices I think it should be possible to fix concert tickets. In other words you are not able to sell the ticket to any other price (lower or higher). The argument is that books are different in comparison to other commodities since they are also cultural goods. The same certainly is true for concerts.
David Gilmour uses another system which binds the ticket to the buyer. You can only enter the gig if you have a valid ID with you.
I always detested people buying tickets just to resell them.

I agree 100%! I used to be able to get good seats all the time but it's impossible now. 15,000 seat venues are selling out in less than five minutes and the scalper sites are loaded with tickets for these shows. It's 100% bullshit! I'm not paying $400 for a $71 Pearl Jam ticket, so now I'm sitting behind the stage.
