I heard that part but then it cuts out. I don't think it was because it was an "obnoxious" question because Adam talked about all the people he worked with on his other albums with no problem at all. When he was recording Trespassing I said he must be having problems with his label and a lot of the Glamberts thought I was just saying that to cause trouble. Well, he pretty much admitted to that in this interview. When he was recording Trespassing I said it sounds like Max Martin just hired a bunch of people to to write songs for Adam and he just sang the tunes. The Glamberts didn't like that too much either but Adam pretty much says that in this interview. Sure Adam might have changed a word or two but he says that was Max's project and he hired the songwriters. To be honest it doesn't look like WB is doing much with this new project so I can't wait to see what happens.

I think reality has hit Adam in the face and he has learned to accept it.

I think it's an obnoxious question because:

• It makes Adam (or anyone asked that question) sort out the people he's currently working with into "superstar" producers and something lesser. That kind of thinking is not at all helpful to whatever process he has going on with the project.

• It puts anyone he's currently working with in competition with people he's worked with in the past. Any names he mentions are going to be fodder for fans to fight about in terms of whether they match up to Max Martin.

* It puts him in the position of having to defend himself from accusations of going down in the world if his current producer/s are not sufficiently A-list for RuPaul or his fans (or anti-fans).

I'm not mad at RuPaul for asking the question. It's kind of his thing to ask mildly obnoxious questions. But I don't see any upside for Adam to answer it.

Which is something that happens to everyone. I don't know why you think it would be any different for Adam Lambert.

Actually, I think Adam has been pretty grounded for the past seven years -- with the occasional blind spot. Like insisting on that first album cover. Or, wanting to wear a flaming headdress in the Zodiac Show.

. Adam didn't have any problems naming names when RuPaul asked Adam which superstars he worked with on his earlier album so that makes me think he's not working with any on this new album. If they are not big name producers and writers they are less than superstar status until they make a big impact. That's not obnoxious at all IMO because Max Martin started off as a lesser known producer/writer.

. It will be hard to match up to Max Martin and it sounds like he's not working with him this time even though he said he wanted to. WB not paying for Max? I think that's a good thing because Max's sound is getting boring.

. That's one of the major problems of not being able to write your own songs and having to rely too much on other producers and writers.

The question is a pretty normal question for anyone and it was a good one. I would like to know who he's working with on this new album and I'm sure a lot of Adam fans would like to know also. The fact that he seemed to dodge it is eye opening.

I didn't say it was different for him. He should have been ready for it because that's what happens to the Idol contestants. He says he was reaching for something that was unattainable and now he's ready to put out what he wants. Hell, I knew that from day one.

Well, it's more usual for him to dodge that question than it is for him to answer it. He probably talked about Max Martin on The Original High, although I don't remember. But, in the past, talking about potential collaborators got him in trouble, because the songs didn't always make the album, and then the fans would get all upset.

But I dare say you're right that he's not working with the A-list producers any more.

Do we have ANY news about his next album? A year or two ago he would say stuff about it and now we hear nothing.

The latest news I heard was that Adam's concentrating on recording songs this month.

Re: Adam Lambert.

Here is what I've read about Adam's new music:
- He apparently startet working on new music in the second half of 2016. From what he said again with Max Martin.

- This changed during last winter. From what I understood between the lines, Adam had been thinking a lot about, what he wants to do and that he (at the age of 35) decided, not to follow the path with Max Martin, but to make his own music. He said he wanted to go back and make music, that he likes and made him love music. I think the deaths of Bowie, Prince and George Michael did also play a role in his decision. Plus Queen's music. All that reminded him, that their free spirits and their music was, what inspired him to want to leave a career in musical theater and create music. (what he startet back before Idol in a little band). And I guess that he realised, that his chance of being really successful in top40 music is rather slim. It hadn't really worked before and he is getting older. Since he earned a lot of money through QAL, he felt the freedom to change direction. I think that wouldn't be possible for most singers.

- He was writing and recording from January till May in 2017 and was looking forward to release new music. He was exited about them and said it was ready. From what I understood, he was going to release an EP (there was no talk about a full album).
- During this time, I heard from Nile Rodgers that they were recording together. When Nile was asked on twitter, what had happened to it, he stated, that they hadn't the opportunity to finish it due to their busy schedules. But they plan to do it (that was from autumn 2017).
- he did record with his friend Alisan Porter, though I think it was for her first album.

- After he had played his new (unreleased) records to Brian and Roger, Brian suggested to play "Two fux" on their tour. That's why the song was released early.

- Over the summer the management at Adam's label WB changed. It took a while until the new people were found and it seemed that nothing had been planned/released on WB for the time, until the new people were in charge. (that goes for all their clients)

- Since then, Adam is recording again, when he has the time. In the last QAL-program was written, that his new ALBUM will be released in 2018. I understood it, that they want to release an album instead of an EP. Thus he needs to record more songs.

- there is the rumour that he was recording in Nashville with Brian and Roger.

- In September he was for a week at the ASCAP song camp in France at "Chateau Marouatte". I don't know much about it, but it looked like camp, where about 20 writers (and musicians / singers) came together to create new music. I understood, that at this camp some of very successful songs were composed in the years before. Maybe something will come out of it.

-he said, that "Two fux" might not be included in the new album, because it might not really fit.

- he said, he will be in the studio most of this January.

So, that's all I know about Adam and his own music at the moment. It's not that much, but since there is now an album planned, instead of an EP, I take that as a good sign and that his label trusts him. And I'm very curious, what the new music will be like. Especially after he said, that "Two fux" might not be on it.

Nicki79, thanks for the very informative post!

Here’s another blast from the past — an interview about the TOH album with a lot of conversation about Queen and QAL:

Am I reading this right? Are you saying nothing was released on WB from any of their artists? If so, what time frame are we talking about because I know Neil Young released one in September and one in December.

I just looked at the albums released in 2017 and see a few released by Warner and some of Warner's other labels all year long.

I hope we get something new this year because it's boring around here.
