New season starting on Sunday on ABC with new judges. I'm not gonna bother watching it. Not even Katy Perry as a judge who I adore is not enough to make me want to watch.
Idol should have stayed away.

Yea, mentions him 3 or 4 times. What else is new? This board has turned into Adam Lambert Central.

QAL Tour in New Zealand/Australia

Postby CNB » Sun Mar 11, 2018 2:55 pm

Is it me or is it you? First, I became acquainted with Adam in a whole different way in which I did see HIM as an enigma who could be very spontaneous and versatile and gracious in the manner in which he responded to mentors, judges and interviewers! In a set show that has to fit within a definite timeframe, they have to pretty much know what they are going to do and say between the performances. If you attend or watch more than one show live or on a live stream you may want them to surprise you. Why? If you love the music and love the performers you won’t mind that you know what is coming up next and will want to see it over and over again!!!!! :)

I feel Idol type shows are very scripted. And some contestants who have been on the show are very scripted as well. I would put Adam in that category.

Standing by what I said. Don't need to watch the video of AL's Idol performances.

CNB,

You won't win any fence sitters with that one. I can handle Adam now but back then he was 100% shit. He ruined all of those songs. You would have to be in love with him to enjoy that catastrophe.

I'd go as far to say that looking however briefly at that link pushes me over the other side of the fence than CNB intended. My fault for clicking on it, I know. Won't make that mistake again as I want to put such atrocious messes out of my head and focus on the positives of his performances with Q+AL.

Does that mean I'm a fence sitter  :P
The performances on Idol, some were under quite painful. Glad I spared myself from watching the video again. :P

I clicked on it to see what it was about. I probably should have said what it was about in my reply to it. If I had known it was AL doing covers on Idol, I would not have bothered. Some of what he did on idol is quite...jarring, IMO. Possibly because he was so unused to it.

I'm glad he did well in American Idol because if hadn't then Brian and Roger probably wouldn't have toured since 2008... but having just seen those performances for the first time, I have no idea how he came second. The only explanation is that everyone else must have been seriously shit. Credit to him for improving so much since then (singing, not performing).

I'll probably get told that the only way anyone can judge AL's performances on Idol is to have been in the live audience

I'm not sure about tours, but I think Brian and Roger would have kept on making so music and a few shows here and there if not for Q+AL. At least I think it could have been likely.
AL has improved. Which is why I'm still surprised ( and this time not in a good way :-P ) the gimmicks in Q+AL shows are still being used. It's really too bad, IMO.
You might get that AL did his own thing with the covers he did on Idol ;)
