RIP Carrie Fisher

Postby HoneyTaylor » Tue Dec 27, 2016 6:33 pm

Carrie Fisher has died at the age of 60 after a heart attack on Friday. :( This year needs to hurry up and end already.

When they said she was stable after an in-flight cardiac arrest I was sceptical. Sad.

Most women do not survive a first cardiac event. I am sure that they kept her comfortable until her families could say their goodbyes. :( I feel like my childhood is dying this year. Bowie, Prince, Alan Rickman, Florence Henderson, Alan Thick, Gene Wilder, George Michael, and now Carrie. :(

Most humans don't survive any cardiac arrest.

The media need to stop calling it a heart attack, it's misleading and gives people false hope. It was clear 3 days ago she wasn't going to make it, sadly.

I had some hopes when it was said she was stable that she would recover.

Quite sad about this. Princess L was my first feminist role model.

First time I ever saw her, in the theater on opening night! :-(

And now, Obi Wan and Leia are together. I am sure Mark Hamill is taking this pretty hard. Just judging by his tweets the other day when the heart attack was announced. I haven't even had time to get on twitter, yet.

Not a heart attack, but otherwise yes I agree.

Are you saying she didn't die from the results of a heart attack? If so, what do you believe caused her death? Honestly.

She suffered a mid-flight cardiac arrest. A 'heart attack' (myocardial infarction) is one of about a dozen reversible causes of a cardiac arrest. We don't know which one it was, and no one will have known until she arrived in hospital.

Heart attack is certainly a candidate, but given that she was on a flight, I'd say a pulmonary embolism is also way up there.

If they do a PM we'll find out for sure.

Either way, it was the cardiac arrest that killed her.

It's a horrible way to realise you're not getting any younger, when all your childhood heroes start dying off- and this year took more of mine than any other so far. Carrie, Bowie, Lemmy, Keith Emerson, Greg Lake, Rick Parfitt- what a cruel reminder of the passage of time.

I said much the same the other day. 2017 onwards could all be as bad as 2016 because a lot of our childhood heroes are getting old and, having lived the way some of them have will have health problems.
Come on you Tigers.
