This one reminds me of when my mother passed away- Kate apparently wrote this about her mother for the same reason- and I can never listen to this without getting a massive lump in my throat and welling up- it's sad but so, so beautiful... :bye1:

Forget everything you think you know from those slightly cheesy 80s pop hits. This is 2003 vintage Toyah, and it's still one of my absolute favourites.

Your finger nails are dirty,
Your lips are dry and cracked.
Hours come and go and your eyes are still open,
So I stare and you stare back.

It twists,
It turns,
Experience.

You live,
You learn,
Experience.

Half past eleven and I'm still shaking,
I can't smoke my cigarette.
From somewhere in between a whisper and a scream,
I wait for you to take a breath.

It twists,
It turns,
Experience.

You live,
You learn,
Experience.

And God only knows I've been around.
Is it time to go home yet?
And here's a night I won't be putting down to...
"Years will come, years will go, and politicians will do f*** all to make the world a better place. But all over the world, young men and young women will always dream dreams and put those dreams into song."

Sometimes our tears blinded the love
We lost out dreams along the way
But I never thought you'd trade your soul to the fates
Never thought you'd leave me alone
