CD books/albums suggestions

Hardback book with pictures including CD / DVD or Blu-ray. This format was an option with Queen Absolute Greatest and The Rolling Stones Havana Moon live release.

I like this format, because it raises the artwork on level with LPs.

But I don't know where to find other releases in this format.. do you ?

I'm presuming you mean the Casebound Book of Absolute Greatest found here:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Absolute-Great ... B002NULL9O

The format isn't one I've seen very often, though it's quite common for that type of design to appear as 12"x12" (ala News of the World's 40th anniversary edition, or Kylie's new album Golden in a super deluxe variation), or as a DVD-box sized book - the Manic Street Preachers have released all their albums from "Journal For Plague Lovers" onwards, including the recent 10th anniversary version of "Send Away the Tigers" in this format, for example.

Fab.

I've got a fair few of the DVD sized ones... most of these are cd only types...

* ALICE COOPER: The Life and Crimes of Alice Cooper
* NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS: Push the Sky Away
* THE CURE: Join the Dots
* GREEN DAY: 21st Century Breakdown
* MICHAEL JACKSON: Hello World - The Motown Solo Collection
* KAISER CHIEFS: Off With Their Heads
* SETH LAKEMAN: Word of Mouth
* MANIC STREET PREACHERS: Send Away the Tigers - 10th Anniversary Edition
* MANIC STREET PREACHERS: Journal for Plague Lovers
* MANIC STREET PREACHERS: Postcards from a Young Man
* MANIC STREET PREACHERS: Rewind the Film
* MANIC STREET PREACHERS: Futurology
* MANIC STREET PREACHERS: Resistance is Futile
* FREDDIE MERCURY & MONTSERRAT CABALLE: Barcelona - Special Edition
* KYLIE MINOGUE: Golden
* PLACEBO: Meds

I've also got The Beatles '1+' which is a cd/2xblu-ray set in this style, Placebo's live dvd 'We Come In Pieces', and quite a few films on dvd/blu-ray in the same fashion.

Pink Floyd - Pulse (I think that was one of the first ones)
Pink Floyd - The Endless River
David Gilmour - On an Island
David Gilmour - Rattle that Lock

Although I'm not sure if these are quite what you mean. These four are the size of a regular CD booklet, but they are hardcovers (the first one is in a cardboard slipcase to boot), and they're just beautiful. That's the way albums should be put out. Piracy could never give you the feeling of joy when flipping through the pages of an exquisite small hardcover book. Just wonderful.

I have a few of the ones already mentioned plus Enya's - Only Time The Collection and Bob Dylan's -Biograph. The Dylan set was originally released in the old square box but they changed it to the book format in later pressings.

The limited edition of Maiden's Book Of Souls is similar to this format.

As I posted elsewhere, I just got the Cosmos Rocks CD/DVD special edition. Hardcover book with photos. Just lovely. This is how the album should have been released.

Quite a few of the smaller 'cd-size' book packages out there.

Currently in my collection...

* ALICE COOPER: Welcome 2 My Nightmare
* DAVID BOWIE: Aladdin Sane - 40th Anniversary Edition
* DAVID BOWIE: 1. Outside
* DAVID BOWIE: Earthling
* DAVID BOWIE: Hours
* FRANZ FERDINAND: You Could Have It So Much Better
* MICHAEL JACKSON: Thriller25
* KASABIAN: West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum
* KYLIE MINOGUE: Aphrodite

They're a lot more resilient that standard card digipaks so I do wish they were more common! The number of CDs I have in digipaks is ridiculous!
