UYI boxset says, hold my beerLeigh Burne wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 9:44 amHold on, weren't you gushing with sycophantic praise for their insultingly overpriced Appetite for Destruction box set when it came out?
The Appetite set was pretty solid to be honest, it was just the price tag that was an absolute joke. I waited and got a copy for about £40 and it was well worth it.

Really the only thing the Miracle Box could have done better is add a disc of complete outtakes ala "Beatles Anthology" style but you really can't fault them from only putting out the best of the rest. Even if they are are actually song compilations. Perhaps one day there will the motherlode of studio outtakes but there's no guarantee. They don't have to do it. They don't need the money. They owe nobody nothing. The albums are always there. They did two things that I think they deserve huge praise for. A completed new song "Face It Alone" and offering the "Miracle Sessions" as part of a two disc release. Three things if you count the FANTASTIC promotion of the new song. No way they recouped all their money. So may of you ungrateful asshats probably didn't even buy the bloody thing.
Is the box set worth the price? That's relative to each person. In my view Queen are the best thing rock music has to offer so to get the best you pay for for it. To me the real waste of money is modern day concert ticket prices. Sure I would pay $1,000 to see Freddie live but just once if you know what I mean.

It cost more money for a tribute show in 2023, then it did seeing the real thing in 1984. I paid 20 dollars to see Maiden and Queensryce in 1985.YAFF wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 11:48 pm Really the only thing the Miracle Box could have done better is add a disc of complete outtakes ala "Beatles Anthology" style but you really can't fault them from only putting out the best of the rest. Back in the day, a concert ticket price was "about" the price of an album. Nowadays, an album costs about twice the price it used to, a ticket for a concert can cost ten times the price it used to.

Back in the day, a pint of milk was 17p. That’s just inflation.
The reason tickets are so expensive now is no one buys albums any more, so bands have to make their money touring instead. A lot of bands used to tour at a loss purely to get people to go out and buy their albums, but now that doesn’t happen, so they have to make their money on the tour.
Not saying that justifies how expensive thickets are these days, but it’s certainly partly responsible.

It had to go that way when the technology allowed you to burn your own CDs. The ability to make money selling your music, unless your name was Adele, Ed Sheeran or Sam Smith disappeared virtually overnight.

A bit late, but I'll say it anyway. I had a hope that the track "face it alone" at least as part of a box set would receive an extended version and not a single, but it did not happen.

No, why would a live version of 39 be on a Miracle boxset?
