Video Vs Audio sales USA

Post by Jake »

Ever look at Queen video vs. audio sales in the USA?

Some of Queen’s video releases in the USA just trampled over their only-audio counterparts. Why do you think this was?

A great example is that Queen Live At Wembley (CD) charted at 53, but video sales were #1 and reached 5x platinum in terms of sales... one of the strongest, if not strongest, concert video sales in the USA to date for a rock band.

Many of Queen’s video releases go platinum in the USA. Do you think Queen’s well-known over the top music videos and concert expectations of the 80’s played a role in this? I do know Queen’s music videos would be played on MTV whether a hit or a flop, according to Billboards regularly updated MTV video rotation list in the 80’s.

It almost seems as if the lyrics of Radio Ga Ga were true in terms of music (well, Queen to be particular) and the USA, that the video became more important than the audio.

That's such bad logic, well played.
