Deagostini Collection

Post by Newearthmud »

So both Italy and Japan got the full Deagostini Collection on vinyl including an expanded 3 disc version of Live At Wembley. I'd heard that there was a possibility the UK would get this release as well but over a year later no word. Anyone know anything about this?

I certainly hope so. The quality of both editions, particularly ones from Japan, are outstanding. I had the pleasure of helping out with some text on about half of them.

What is the Deagostini Collection?
I have bought the albums on vinyl, cassette, CD, 2011 Remastered CD and coloured vinyl (ultimate Studio Collection I think it's called). I haven't bought the current standard vinyls and can't imagine buying the albums again branded as the "Deagostini Collection".

Deagostini are a magazine publisher. They release those part-work style subscription titles, where the first one is cheap and the rest are a much higher cost.

In Italy and Japan, they released a Queen series which repackaged all their albums with a mini-magazine. This included some of the albums which are long out of print on vinyl and go for silly money.

The full list of titles was:
  • Queen
  • Queen II
  • Sheer Heart Attack
  • A Night at the Opera
  • A Day in the Races
  • News of the World
  • Jazz
  • Live Killers << Currently out of print elsewhere>>
  • The Game
  • Flash Gordon
  • Greatest Hits
  • Hot Space
  • The Works
  • A Kind of Magic
  • The Miracle
  • Innuendo
  • Greatest Hits II
  • Made in Heaven
  • Greatest Hits III << Currently out of print elsewhere>>
  • Live at Wembley Stadium << Currently out of print elsewhere>>
  • On Fire: Live at Milton Keynes Bowl << Currently out of print elsewhere>>
  • Queen Rock Montreal << Currently out of print elsewhere>>
  • Live at the Rainbow '74 << Currently out of print elsewhere>>
  • A Night at the Odeon
  • On Air

Cool. I remember a Beatles one a few years ago.

The Italian ones were complete recuts by MPO, a French company.

I do! You wish will be granted, albeit later in the year.
Ah, magnificent. I haven't gotten around to buying the 2011 remasters on vinyl yet - Jazz on pink vinyl excepted - so if they're basically going to be packaged with the magazine (without any changes to the artwork on the albums themselves) I might go for this!

FANTASTIC! With the Italian version there was the chance to subscribe directly and get extra items like a box for the complete collection and a few other kick knacks. I am hoping for a similar offer in the UK. Many thanks for the info Nick. That expanded 3LP version of LAW will be especially welcome.

When Didy wrote his post earlier on, he wrote Live at Wembley twice.

I think one of those was meant to be Queen Rock Montreal.

Absolutely right. Bit of a wobble there. ;)
