Aren't they doing Queen I in it's entirety which could hint at that being the next Box Set?
What made you think so?

It's the 50th anniversary of Queen's debut album 'Queen'. I thought they would celebrate it with a special release. Pink Floyd are releasing an overpriced and, in my opinion, unnecessary box set for the 50th anniversary of 'Dark Side Of The Moon'.

The latter is one of the biggest albums of all time.
It was bound to have some sort of (re-)release

If they put out Queen, added some live stuff (the imperial gig?!), that could be terrific.
At this point though, at best it would be the album, demos, and golder’s green

Yeah they are. But I doubt there is enough material from those sessions for a box set. Apart from the BBC stuff and the original demos, what else is there? I do not think Queen 1 will ever get the box set treatment. I just think they are choosing to play through the debut album simply because of its 50th birthday this year.

I believe we will be getting a live box. The Greatest Live Youtube clips are not for nothing; they will be in place to promote something - and it is logical and probable that it will be something live. May not be a box set though; but I hope it is.

It would be interesting to know what’s survived of the Queen 1 era. It seems My Fairy King is the only song never performed live, but who knows what they actually have.
I’d love a good quality copy of Fred singing Polar Bear.
I would also love to have hangman, and Golders Green with the vocal audio mixed to a more balanced level.
Finally, I know Brian said the original was mixed left, middle and right only. I’d love a modern remix like the Teo Torriate high def mix. But who knows if the multitracks could support that.
Anyway, much to speculate on.

I reckon there is very little in the cans regarding Queen I. We know they recorded the album on studio down time and did not have control over the production, etc. So, apart from the BBC takes and the other live versions I doubt there is much more.

I actually went back and listened to the album start to finish the other day and realised how much I still loved it. Awful drum sounds aside I think it is a great, raw rock album full of hunger and capturing a band still finding their feet and their own path to tread. And it has held up well considering it is reaching its 50th birthday.

a Queen 1 box set could make sense because of several unreleased songs ("Silver Salmon", "Polar Bear", "Hangman"), the demos, live, etc...

And apparently there are those tapes from 1970 that Brian has found...even though they wouldn't specifically relate to the debut album.

If they promote it right, it could do well.
