My latest buy was the £5 coin. I was excited to buy it but I'm predominately a collector of video, music and books and a coin doesn't really do much does it? But it does look pretty.

My latest buy was Queen Greatest Hits In Japan SHM CD DVD set contains the Video for The Show Must Go On. Is this the first time it's been on DVD?

There was a very, very limited run of "Greatest Flix I & II" DVDs made very early in the format's lifespan c. 1997. IIRC they were only available to people who bought a particular model of DVD player for a limited time only.

A direct port of the VHS compilations, Flix I still has all the videos merge into one another as the original VHS did, and Flix II has the original caption screens.

As luck would have it, I might have just found a genuine copy for £35... we'll see, eh?

There seems to be a fair few of them on eBay in the £20-£25 range, one with a letter explaining why they were never officially released. I'm quite tempted to snap one up, but I'd be torn on whether to open it or not.

I think the fan club sold/gave away all the remaining stock long after the original promotion had ended.

The same happened with a 2003 longbox compilation of The Platinum Collection & Flix 1 (!!!) which was given out like confetti at a Convention. I think I've got three.

As for whether to open one - if you've already got the GVH DVDs, then there's no real need. Any track that's different can be viewed on youTube if you wish.

My latest buy is a t-shirt of the Queen crest from a Primark. It's a strange colour, not black and not quite grey. It was from the men's department but that didn't bother me, if it's got Queen on it and it's £10 or under I'm going to get it there and then.

As for whether to open one - if you've already got the GVH DVDs, then there's no real need. Any track that's different can be viewed on youTube if you wish.

The GVH DVDs have the advantage of 5.1 sound, but the disadvantage of cropped 16:9 videos. Plus, they don't include the music videos from the Innuendo album.

So there's definitely a reason to have both, until Queen Productions bother to put out an updated music video collection. The band have at least uploaded most of the videos to YouTube now, but in a heavily compressed format... I'd love some proper HD restorations of film elements and professional quality upscales of SD material.
