JLP, yes, Glamberts tend to be a defensive bunch but then whose fans aren't? If somebody would come on these boards and bullshit about Freddie with bogus facts without knowing anything about Freddie, would some of you defend him with whatever knowledge that you have? I am not someone who cannot understand that Adam is not everyone's cup of tea. And I am fine with that but what would be the point of a discussion board if we were not allowed to give our opinions without being called "jumping on" people and "defending AL" when the board we are currently on is the QAL board.

Opinions and constructive criticism of the shows are one thing but by God I have read a few very vile things said about Adam Lambert on here, most pertaining to his sexual orientation and how he wants to present it. It seems those things are somehow allowed on an official Queen forum. And that Glamberts are made to feel like second class citizens on here.

As for Paul Rodgers vs Adam Lambert, we all have our own personal opinions. But my feelings is that the consensus of the reviews and concertgoers as a whole is that Adam Lambert is a better fit for Queen and the shows he has done with Queen have been received more favourably by the public at large.

I am quite happy for his fans to post on here. My issue has always been with the fact that his fans cannot abide even slight criticism of AL. Christ at times on here, the classic line up gets criticised. When the collaboration was first announced, the fan base was bitterly divided and probably remains so. But when as a fan of over 43 years, I get told that I am not a fan because I refuse to go to a QAL gig, can you understand why I get somewhat angry.

It is my choice not to watch any of the gigs. Even the bits that don't involve AL. People should be able to respect that just as I respect their right to watch every nano second of every QAL gig.

Nothing much to say to this because I agree with you. It is definitely your right to watch or not to watch QAL. And it is silly to say that you are not a Queen fan if you don't.

But why visit the QAL section of the board then? It just makes no sense to me at all. I get that there are fans who do not like QAL or who get pissed off with AL fans who keep repeating themselves; but THIS is the QAL section that Queen themselves obviously wanted included on their own website - I think the argument is with them rather than QAL fans who have as much right as anyone else to post their opinions in the relevant section.

I have no idea if the band wanted a separate section. It was something the moderating team discussed because we and others were fed p of the whole board being seemingly bombarded with stuff about AL.

I only look at this section to keep an eye on what is going on. If I was not part of the team, I would avoid it like the plague.

Well, I am sure Brian and Roger would see the value in having a place to visit here to discuss all things QAL. And it makes sense to keep it all separate from the other stuff. But why some fans who are anti-QAL visit this section to have a pop at someone like CNB is absolutely beyond me; and all because she is enthusiastic and passionate about AL and QAL - it doesn't hurt anybody.

Faellie wrote:I've been a fan of the band since I taped Seven Seas of Rhye off Top of the Pops on my mono recorder (yes I'm old). I love that after so many years the band has been able to come back to the top of the live tour charts, and it would be silly to say anything other than it is Adam Lambert who has made that possible.

I've loved every QAL show I've been to (only 3!). It is blindingly obvious how much Brian and Roger are enjoying themselves and how good a team they and Adam have become since 2011. I've seen nothing but enthusiastic enjoyment from the crowds at the gigs I've been to - and they have all been sold out.

Freddie was extraordinary and irreplaceable in the band. Adam is not his replacement, as all involved have repeatedly made clear. Freddie died in 1991: that is over 26 years ago now. His music did not die with him, any more than Mozart or Beethoven's music died with them. I'm happy to hear Adam sing the Queen songs and to have the chance to see Brian and Roger play them live again.

I come here for news about QAL, and what shows they are doing, and it has helped me enormously to buy tickets before they sell out. I'd love to read, and take part in, constructive discussion about the QAL collaboration. Sadly the repetitive negativity on this forum turns me right off any attempt to participate, or even to read the posts here in any detail. Yes, anyone can post as much criticism as they like (thanks to the generosity of Queen themselves, who provide the space). But ye gods and little fishes, don't people get bored to tears with their own repetitious negativity? After the same thing has been said for the hundredth time it's not clever, it's not interesting and it's not news. Also, on Queen's own site it is, frankly, rude.

Very well stated.

And - believe me - you are not the only one who feels like they do not want to participate on this website (many have been disgusted with the negativity and needless, constant attacks they receive). But this site needs fans like you: true Queen fans with respect for the opinions and tastes of others (even if you do not agree). If you - and all those who felt the same - do continue to stay away from this board simply because of a few individuals then there will be no balance and negativity will rein! Grrrr...We don't want that.

Keep up the good work! :)

I simply do not get the animosity towards Lambert fans on here. Fair enough, if there was a multitude of AL fans permeating the whole site and filling it with posts purely about Adam then I would get why that would be annoying; but there is a whole section dedicated to QAL here: you all should at least be able to post your thoughts and feelings here without being attacked for it. Brian would be disgusted with the way things are being handled here, I think.

Anyway, I hope you know that it is only a tiny minority of Queen fans who are like this; the rest of us - QAL fans or not (and I am definintely not) - are a decent enough and open-minded bunch. :)

To be honest, I am pro QAL for the most part. Went to 3 shows the first US tour, 2 the next. I even went to an Adam fan page to discuss the collab there with them and had a mostly great time. I don't flail over Adam and I don't think he sings the more rocking songs of the catalogue very well. I also think the setlist is stale. But other than that I have loved seeing the band in person, and think they put together a helluva show.

I don't mind there being a QAL section. I think it's better for the board that way given the divisiveness of the project

I don't mind Adam fans coming here to talk about it.

I think there are a few people on both sides that tend to wind things up the same way they always do. A few come here to troll Adam and his fans and I don't get that. If I hated this collaboration, I wouldn't come to this section myself. However and maybe I'm wrong but I can't help feeling the way I do. I think it mostly hinges on one person.

I am pro-QAL but her shall we say style of posting is extremely off putting. I have never been anything but supportive of AL singing for Queen despite my opinion on how he sings rock songs for the most part...but she makes me want him to fail. Momentarily. Then I stop and say this is stupid. It's not his fault. BUT that's my initial knee jerk reaction.

And I wholeheartedly think that that is a MAIN reason the trolls who do come in here, do. They have the same knee jerk reaction. Should they control themselves a bit. Absolutely. I know I do. But I do know that when said person was on vacation - this section became 95% less vitriolic.

There are a couple others on both sides that fan the flames but I do see the one as something of a keystone.

There are some Adam fans who I love seeing post...and like I said I have quite a few Adam fans I have enjoyed conversing with on the Adam site.

Just my $.02

But at least you don't criticise just for the sake of it. You are honest and state what you feel and are open-minded enough to accept the differing opinions of others. I am not a fan of QAL at all, but I am happy for those who are. I just think QAL fans should be able to come to this section and get as excited as they want...

...let's face it, it is the only lively part of the bloody board left! :P

In practice I agree with you minus one individual.

The Phil Symes comments of "certainly not in the first part of the year" pretty much confirms (to me) that there will be dates later on in 2018!!!

Hmm. It piques my interest, but I wish someone in the know could say for sure sooner than later if the rumored shows will happen or not.

The first part of the year will be spent performing 10 shows in New Zealand and Australia. Perhaps if all is well there, they will add more 2018 dates later!

Queen + AL to tour again Summer 2018?

Postby JLP » Tue Jan 16, 2018 10:40 pm

Right this needs to stop and it stops right now. What happens on other forums cannot be managed from here. The two boards are completely different entities.

If people have concerns about the way individuals behave on here, the correct way of doing things is to contact the moderating team by either reporting the post of via private message. This is made quite clear in the forum rules. Making issues public merely fans the flames.
Come on you Tigers.

Minus two individuals for me. There is an ignore option, by the way. Makes sense to use it if you don't want to read someone's comments.

I also think it should be two and not one. It is either all or nothing! But I do believe one keeps attacking the other person way too much for every comment that is made. At some point that is also more than annoying. I think some of it has to do with one's viewpoints, those who dislike the QAL format seem to get the benefit of the doubt and since this is a QAL thread that doesn't seem fair to me. You wouldn't go posting about Adam or QAL in a regular Queen thread, nor should people that dislike QAl keep inserting mean, snarky remarks here. I will never understand that. It is fair to state your opinion, but some of them are really not very nice!
