The O2 Arena on July 2nd! And more to come.

I'm surprised by this news. Anyone hoping or will make plans to go?
( I do wish Brian would stop calling it dangerous when it turns out not to be, but now I wonder if there will be a new set list, stage set up? )

Nope...it will be structured and precise with the same set up as 2017.
Which incidentally is what seems to be selling rather well to the masses. Good luck to them and those that can get enjoyment out of this.
I gave the last tour a miss ( first one since 1979 ) don't regret it and won't be rushing to get tickets this time round either.

Too bad if nothing will change though. I had a little hope if more dates were added, things might be different this time around. Time will tell, but I doubt it's gonna be dangerous and not much difference than last year's shows.
I wish they could change a few things here and there.

Dangerous as Brian called it...again. ;)
I'm sure it's good news for some people.
And one other thing, I hope the dates are spread out more than last time. No joke, I was concerned for Brian a couple of times during the last tour. Hoping in the break between then and the new shows, he had time to rest and relax a bit. And that goes for Roger and the rest of them too.

I'm really surprised by the announcement of a London show at the O2, I honestly thought it was going to be Wembley Stadium. If there is to be only one UK show I would've thought they could quite easily sellout Wembley, perhaps it would be to difficult to change the stage from an arena show to a stadium show, who knows. The UK shows sold phenomenally well last year, similar to the ELO ones and they did a Wembley show.

Could it be, that England could play on this date in the football world-championship? 8-) (I mean, if England reaches the round of the final 16)....

Meh.

At this stage, I'm waiting for them to stop the "high energy" stuff and do a show with different material. It's never going to happen, in some ways I don't blame them. Why bother putting something new together when the same old stuff is getting so well received. If they can sell out the O2 again then there is no denying that they are doing a phenomenal job but at this stage, for me, it's not something I'm in a rush to see.

I think I'd rather watch Brian and Kerry do something smaller, at least that would be 'new'. Good luck to everyone who wants this though.

I couldn't give "two fux".

One every level, for a fan and a band, the O2 is a superior venue. Wembley is a cash-grab.

One more around the block!’ It’s live, it’s dangerous, and it takes every ounce of fitness we can muster. But it’s still fun!“

Every ounce of fitness we can muster? To play a guitar, really?

He did looked knackered at the end of the show I was at in December. I remember the lead singer in PUSA (who was in early 40s at the time) speaking about his fitness on tour and how they had to warm up and down properly now they were older or they'd be really hurting the next day.

Got the same problem as the other topic...i'd like to the the exact where and whens before buying tickets for London as combining a show with a holiday somewhere on the continent might be quite nice but I'll need to know before Friday as I don't want to risk not getting tickets for the o2 and then the other dates not quite fitting in for me.

If it was a stadium gig it could be great news.

You haven't got a clue really, have you?

Playing a two show on a big stage with a long walkway and B stage and using it all and not being static, taking a lead part in the show on the B stage and also later in a solo spot again not being static. Putting physical and mental effort into the performance, remembering Q's being in the right place at the right time coping with and working around potential equipment failures occasionally, making contact with the audience in a way that even if your in the back row of a 15,000 seater you feel like there was some personal contact.

Having no real choice but to do the show if occasionally your feeling not 100%. Having to travel on back to back show days, spending long periods away from home and family. All this from a guy in his 70's

I know people in their 40's doing the same thing and they will tell you it's hard. You haven't got a clue!

Not really, I haven't played a guitar in a band. It can't be that difficult though (given that you can play a guitar). There's a 70 year old at my work place and he works 60 hours most weeks, doing very hard physical work. Some perspective, please. :?

Two hours on stage. Standing for nearly all of it. Walking for a lot of it, and running for some. Playing guitar at the highest technical and musical level, and singing a lot as well. Two hours of mental concentration along with the physical work, remembering and recreating the words and music to 26 different songs, co-ordinating every note and every move with 5 other people. Doing it all while being on show to thousands of people for every minute of it.

There are maybe a few hundred people in the world who play two hour arena concerts as lead guitarist. The ones who've been doing it for over 40 years can be counted on the fingers of one hand in a world of 7 billion people. It takes talent and hard work to get to that level and more talent and more hard work to sustain it. Neither fairydandy nor their bloke at work could come anything close to doing it at any age.
