Only the best? I don’t know about that. Some were the best in their prime but not so big anymore. I think it's a little sad that Brian May and Roger are doing what Celine Dion, Backstreet Boys, Shania Twain, Britney Spears, and Jennifer Lopez have done but it's not shocking at all.

How many classic rock acts have played a Vegas residency? I can think of two and both of them have something in common with Queen. Sun anything for a buck City.

I have no idea, and I'm actually not really interested in it. I don't think, it's a place, where I will ever (want to) go. I only know, that some great artists are have/ had residencies there. Sure, most of them aren't in their prime anymore. But with that, they might have something in common with the audiences there.

On the other hand: Did their last concerts there even sell well? I had the impression, they weren't sold out. But I guess, that would be the problem of the promoter?

How did the Sun City concerts sell? Doesn’t really matter because they were paid to come down and play. Are you new to Queen?

If you’re asking about the pop acts I have no idea. I don’t even care how the artists I listen to sell. I know Raidohead sell out instantly but I only know that because it’s a bitch getting tickets.

I wouldn't call Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys etc the best.
Elton John and Celine...easy to see why they did Vegas, and still managed to release new music. I like how they did their concerts there.
This would be a sad ending for Brian and Roger if it happened. A concert or two at Wembley would be better.

No. I just wondered, why QAL was asked. Because they had problems to fill one show, if I remember it correctly.

Probably because Q+AL is perfect for a Vegas residency.

Why is it OK for Elton and Celine to have shows in Vegas but not Brian and Roger? Is it because they have new music, which I thought no one here was on board with when it comes to QAL. I think it would be great as you could plan ahead and lots of people could see them and see several shows without traveling all over the universe. Playing in one spot would be much easier on Roger and Brian and I thought you were all about that, Icy. I honestly don't think they are all about the money at this point. They have tons of extra dollars. I think they just enjoy playing because it is their passion and they have had some great tours lately. It would be great for fans in the US as they might not do a tour here again. I would love to go and if my soon to be new hip cooperates, I may try to talk my husband into it. I am not fond of casinos, but I could be talked into it!

Def Leppard, Aerosmith, Elton John, Elvis Costello, The Who, Guns n Roses, Kiss, Motley Crue, Scorpions have all done Las Vegas residencies.

All utterly hilarious, apparently. All wash ups, has beens, embarrassments...or, just top notch A and B-list acts doing what they do.

It's not the 1970s anymore, folks, when Las Vegas meant something VERY different.

Keep on hating on AL by all means but don't pretend this means Queen have plumbed new depths. Yes, Sun City was way dodgier than this, and as Jim Beach admitted, dear Freddie was mainly keen to do those shows "for the money".

Was it the real GN'R or just Axl? Kiss is an anything for a buck act so no shock there. Def Leppard and the Scorpions have seen better days so not too shocked about them. When was Aerosmith's residency? I guess Motley is the only one I'm a little surprised at. Not that they ever had any integrity but why did they bother?

It seems to be easy money for the older acts and I'm sure it's a lot easier on their bodies since they don't have to travel as much.

I think someone previously mentioned that this “residency” would be for one month at the most. And I hope it would involve only 2 to 3 shows per week and not 5 or more. I saw Donny and Marie but not Britney or Celine even though they were there.

This would certainly not be the end (if they can help it). Just some concerts (I guess 10-15) strewn over a couple of weeks.
I just checked the Park Theater and their line-up:
Ricky Martin (12 dates), Cher (9 dates), Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga (no dates mentioned yet) are scheduled for this year so far. Not bad, I would say. And current artists. So all is fine. :)

I'm sure their final live gig will be in the UK.

I'm sure they'd like their final concert to be in London Town but you never know what might happen. We can never really be sure that Adam won't one day call a meeting and say 'guys, it's been amazing but I've got to go and do my own thing now' or they have a falling out or it just feels like time to part ways.

I'm pretty sure, that, if Adam should feel, that he has to go or that they part ways, he would certainly be up for one (or a few) last gigs in Britain. If Brian and Roger wanted it. I would say, the only way, Brian and Roger's last gig won't be in London, would be health reasons.
