7th/8th? There's only been two proper replacements if that's the right word, Paul & Adam. Anyone else they performed with were one off's like Tom Chaplin etc. You can hardly class the current situation the same way. You wouldn't expect Bono to give up a few gigs for a replacement to have a go so why should Adam be any different.

They had a number 1 singles with George Michael and Five, and further releases with Robbie Williams, Elton John and John Farnham.

Re Bono: Thanks for playing. Here’s what happened when U2 came to Vegas:

I was talking touring, not recording and that vid is Brandon getting up with U2 not replacing Bono.

I hate to break it to you, but Queen were as much a recording band as a touring band.

And I’m not sure where you got the idea that I was suggesting anything other than a couple of songs from:

There’s a precedent for it as well. Paul Rodgers was comfortable and secure enough to step aside and allow Brian and Roger to do a song with Katie Melua in 2005:

That was good. I forgot actually how good :D
Nate Reuss and Lady GaGa joined Brian and Roger during Q+AL shows, have you ever seen it? Anyways, I liked it.

I know they were as much a recording band but in the current format they are touring only not recording. They recorded with a few people but the only other one they toured with is Paul.

Up to them if they want to get someone else to do a few songs but for me personally it doesn't work in most cases, it just ends up a jam session and not a very good one, look at the lady gaga one for example, it was awful. Properly rehearsed it could work but if I was going to see QAL I would be peed off if they had someone else singing with them for part of the show, especially if it is a short set.

Fickin Tony Hadley joined actual Queen onstage back in the day. It’s pretty commonplace for that sort of thing to happen. It shows an incredible amount of vicarious insecurity to be against the idea of guest appearances at gigs.

Back to U2 in fact: I saw U2 at Twickenham last year, supported by Noel Gallagher, and U2 invited him back for the encore to sing Don’t Look Back In Anger, in memory of the victims of the Manchester bombing. Imagine that - a band willing to allow somebody else to do their encore for them. A total lack of self-indulgence or arrogance, and just doing what felt right instead.

I'm not saying they wouldn't do that, just that I personally wouldn't like it. I get the Noel Gallagher thing for Manchester but in general I'm not a fan of bands getting someone else up. It's not so bad if it's say the Foo's who do three hour shows and when I see local bands free, no problem, but if I'm paying to see a show I want it to be the band I paid to see.

Yes, and Tony was one of the best to ever share the stage with Brian and Roger. That was awesome.
I'd love it if more artists joined Brian and Roger onstage, actually surprised it hasn't happened more. But when you get reactions like " that awful person from Fun " stated by a Glambert after Nate joinied Brian and Roger for one song, it's no wonder it doesn't happen.
I really like The Killers and Brandon. I'd love to see the chance of Brandon joining Brian and Roger, even for one song, I think he could pull it off. Sadly, I don't think there's much chance of that, and yes I'd love to be wrong.
*Waits for my post to wing it's way elsewhere on the internet*.

PS...a few years back I read an article where Brandon mentioned Queen and Freddie. Going to see if I can find it again.

I don’t think, that playing one or two songs with other musicians would be a problem. On a 10 days „reign“ it might even be a nice change.
And they might start that in Glasgow: it’s said, that the Darkness is going to play at bit with them.
By the way:Adam always takes little breaks in the set, when Brian or Roger take over. So another artist might be welcome. ;)

Maybe it's just me then but I was glad I didn't get tickets for Glasgow after I heard what Justin said about joining them, but then I'm not a fan of his voice, aside from that one song from way back.

Thanks for being reasonable :D
Roger's son Rufus plays with The Darkness, somid be surprised, shocked even, if TD or Rufus don't play with Brian and Roger, or vice versa. I'm not a Darkness fan, but it could be fun.
I'd welcome another artist or more... especially if these shows will be last for Brian and Roger. It will selfish not to give someone else a chance.

The Killers seem to be in Canada in early September anyway, so chances are their schedules won’t match up. And I’ve no idea if they’ve ever mixed in the same circles so it’s literally just fanciful speculation on my part. Plus Brandon Flowers doesn’t even live in Vegas any more; I think his family moved to Utah for personal reasons relating to his wife.

Why are you on first name terms with all these people that you don’t like?

What song? The one he gave AL?

They were supposed to do some songs together - I believe Seven Seas of Rhye and Now I’m Here - way back in 2005 with Q+PR at Hyde Park, but the show was postponed by a week due to the London bombing and I don’t think they could do the rescheduled date.
