Can I ask you two stupid questions...how long did it take and did it hurt?

Not stupid at all. The one with Frank took about 9 hours total (broken up into two sessions). The first session my artist outlined the image. I then had to wait about 3 weeks for it to heal before going back to color it in. It did hurt, but the pain is tolerable. The best I can explain it is to imagine a cat scratching you constantly with really, really, really sharp claws. And obviously the longer you're in the chair the worse it's going to feel. But honestly, that part doesn't bother me as much as when it starts to heal. Then you have to deal with it itching like crazy, but you CAN'T scratch it otherwise you might damage it. I'm actually a big baby when it comes to that part. Lol
