Is the ignore function a waste of time?

Postby lord of all darkness » Tue Feb 08, 2011 5:59 am

I have in the past been told i have been placed on other users ignore list. Yet, i found it amusing at the time that they seem to be able to know what i've posted and then replied to me? I personally think the ignore function is a complete wank. Time to remove it i thinks?

Discuss.
BAN them!

Just be thankful you can use it. I and the rest of the mod team have to see all the crap we'd like to ignore. :P

I use it. But I only have one person on my ignore list. Royal Hollywood loony. I don't want to read his posts, and just find it easier to ignore him.

I suppose if you didn't like the ignore function, you could ignore it.

Again the benefits probably are worth it staying in place.
Come on you Tigers.

Can we just make an "Ignore Looney Completely" function where his posts and threads don't even exist?

Seriously.
I can't even stand scrolling past his thread titles in the new posts line.

He makes me long for the good old days of God and Mahler.

Ah, Mahler!! I forgot about him! Some of his threads could be quite interesting at times. Note I did say some!

I wonder what happened to him...

PS Kiss on your stomach! :P

Since I can't see every post on this thread, I don't know if this has been said....

I wouldn't want the ignore option removed, and can't see how it being there impacts on people who don't like it. If you don't use it, you won't even know it's there.....

Hello. Tired of reading stuff by a pair of users, decided to register in the forum only to avoid reading them. People insulting and being disrespectful to others aren't the only ones the moderators have to watch out for, as well as those ones who only write one stupid nonsense after another. IMHO.

I'm sorry you feel you have to sign up for such a negative reason.

Don't quite get that *reasoning* to be honest :?. Why bother to sign up just for that reason alone?

....Because the ignore function is not available to lurkers - the new member has clearly had enough of scrolling past some specific posters.

Makes perfect sense to me.

I visit this forum very often, and I really enjoy reading it. In the same way a browser has an adblocker and a mail a spam filter, I'm using a similar tool here.
