Edward Snowden

Weird no one has started a topic yet...Nobody I know really seems to care what has been disclosed. Why is that?

I don't see alot in the media about disclosures. Obama may be influencing countries by
reminding them of their own spy pursuits, i.e., who in particular has launched spy
satellites and what data might these countries have collected.

It's not that- we can't say anything because the NSA are monitoring everything we type, and if we say something out of line, they'll- huuuurggghhhhhhh...................................

It is absolutely bizarre that something extremely illegal has happened, everyone's privacy has been invaded to the highest degree, companies have been spied on systematically and no one cares. No one. It's election year in Germany and the opposition is forcefully trying to make this a topic. But as usual chancellor Merkel does not really react. It is obvious that the German government was aware of this NSA espionage (though probably not to this degree), but no one even cares.
Ironically, the European parliament, which has also been spied on, can feel for the first time that Americans do take them seriously to some degree.

The Goldman Sachs guys don't let Europe react. The "terrorism fight" thing is a pretext some governments and other organizations use to spy on us, to spy on enemies and to plant spies everywhere (Ana Chapman, for example), to send malware, etc.

This is the launch schedule for missiles and satellites launched out of Vandenbeg AFB, the second largest US missile base in America (largest is in Alaska). Note the link to the the NRO and reference to 'classified'.
http://www.spacearchive.info/vafbsked.htm

So, NROL are spy satellite launches, and probably many countries other than the US also launch their
spy satellites. Without a doubt, Russia does. Also, many data and picture gathering satellites are duel-purpose, that is, for private industy and the govenment/military.

So, Booz Allen Hamilton, Snowden's employer, has an office about 16 miles from Vandenberg, snuggled
next to Lockheed Martin and in the same county as Raytheon (Santa Baraa County, California). Snowden
had courage. Hope he finds a good new home.

I heard an interesting fact this week regarding the Enigma machine.

It's obviously well known now that the British succeeded in decoding this masterpiece of ciphering during the latter years of the second world war, but this fact wasn't known by more than about half a dozen people for many years.

It turns out that once the war was over we gave some Enigma machines to other countries so they could use them.

Of course, it meant that Britain was able to spy on a few of our allies...

Who in turn could then pass on some of those secrets to the Russians, via the various spy-rings we had of our own.

They say "What goes around, f*cking goes around!" Don't they?

And the infomation acquired from this equipment, be it obtained from machines, satellites, or internet,
is for sale. Snowden gave his info away.

I don't think that is the case for most people... They are not interested in it, always suspected something like that anyway and have the general conviction that they have nothing to hide anyway... yes, the occasional visit to Youporn to satisfy the fetish of big asses now and then, but that's no crime. Such attitutes, the lack of awareness of the heaviness of the overall situation is, to my mind, more dangerous and frightening than the actual espionage going on.

I'll have to send you a pm when i can get the time to do so. maybe that will be safe - certainly safer than out on a public message board. ;-)
